Another poll showing Bush losing 8 points after the first debate. Bush still leads in Gallup's registered voter poll by 2, but that is 11 points less than last week.

Yeah, you're right. All the polls are wrong. Bush is still ahead by 8.

Since when did the 18-24 year olds vote? I know they like their cheap concerts and free autographs to register, but last I heard Nelly and Usher won't be able to perform at the voting booths.

Thats the kind of defeatist attitude towards americas youth that the kerry supporters are hoping for from the bush camp. When I try to register people I dont care if there young there vote counts.
The only election I ever voted in was 92 I was barely 18 and I cared more then than I ever did about an election, untill now.

You guys sound like Cubs fans - One day THEY WILL VOTE, I JUST KNOW IT!
Kids don't give a sh*t, whether you like it or not. They will not vote en masse until Playstation games or free cds are awarded for voters.

See my reply to Hel'n. After hearing the same tired rant for 7 different presidential elections, I tend to stop believing the opinions.

This is what I want to see...
I want to see Blair get elected as the President of the European Union.
Then I want to see the US and the EU pull out of the UN and found a League of Democratic Nations to oppose the UN as the authority on international opinion.
Then once that's accomplished, I want to be given a pass to march up to Mt. Rushmore and chisel Bush's face in that mountain myself. That kind of leadership would merit it.
. . .
I shouldn't have clouded this issue with the Mt. Rushmore bit... That was mostly me expressing how important I think it is to get out of the UN.
That being said, I do believe that Bush and Blair have a unique opportunity to become two of the most importent men in the history of Democracy. And Bush does have the potential to become one of the most important presidents in modern American history. I certainly wouldn't put him above Reagan yet in terms of world changing accomplishments (and I'm not much of a Reagan fan, for the record, but I recognize the importance of his role in the fall of communism)... There's still much to be seen as far as how the world will change due to the establishment of a Democracy in the middle east...
I don't know a single 18-24 year old that's not getting out to vote this year. Not one. And being 24 myself, I know quite a few.
Not only is everyone I know getting out to vote, they are all very enthusiastic about it. It is a total different situation than 2000 from what I have seen.
Even my younger sister, former pothead and too lazy to keep a steady job at Wal-Mart, has been active in the Kerry campaign (__ insert knee-jerk joke here ___).

Same here. I do live on a liberal campus however, so I can't really judge. All I know all my friends are voting. So are other poeple on the campus. That's about 18,000 (out of 26,000 ) votes for Kerry.

And as we are led to believe this is a generation that takes it que from friends, we should see a large representation in this voting group. After all this the the new population bubble and represents a surge in the voting population. (Though more so in the next election.)

Well, moveon.org - via their full-page ad in the New York Times last week - did say that they had debunked Gallup as untrustworthy and proven they are never right...

That’s why there is a margin of error in SCIENTIFIC polls which account for those who do not have phones in that margin of error. Another thing, since you believe that 18-24 year olds are not accounted for in those polls you better hope so in Missouri anyway b/c we did a SCIENTIFIC poll at my university and 56% are for Bush, 39% Kerry and Nader with a commanding 5% with a margin of error at 3%. :thumb:

I'm glad you brought that back up. It just goes to show that I was clearly behind Bush, and that there were tangible things he could have done that I think would have propelled him to greatness.
It's just too bad...

I think it is a natural result of the fact that he did not rise up through the ranks so that he could choose his own competent help and advisors.
He trusted Cheney, and Cheney stuck him with a Donald Rumsfeld that had his mind rearranged by the neocons while out of government during the Clinton years.
Rumsfeld was confirmed in committee, as there was a bipartisan expectation that he would be competent based on his experience and reputation.
Unfortunately, Executive judgment is clouded by extreme ideology.
It also comes down to being honest. B*sh's people think that they are smart enough to lie to the world and get away with it.
They are less smart than they think they are and if you break simple moral rules like honesty, you are bound to fail.
