I have no more use for a panty-waste pussy crybaby like Dick Vermeil. I wish he would just leave now. I'll help him pack. Even if it means writting off the rest of this season...like that would be a change from where we stand now.

I want a coach with sack, attitude, expectations of excellence and no tolerance for players who don't perform. I'm fed up with group hugs after each loss with guys who are stiffs while true untapped talent like Larry Johnson is constantly bagged on. I don't care if LJ has a bad attitude, the rest of the team could use some attitude of their own. After the way he's been wasted I don't blame him at all for having that kind of attitude. Dick can just continue to piss him off so that once Dick's retired, Larry can take out all of his frustrations towards us while wearing his new uniform....I'm guessing Broncos or Raiders because that's the way it works for us.

Meanwhile Dick's "profile" guys...Dexter McCleon and company continue to run us into the ground week in and week out. I couldn't have done any worse covering that no-name Jags receiver last week. Crying over Greg Robinson? Calling him a real man who didn't deserve the treatment he got from fans and the media? He may be a real man Dick....I'm not sure you are though. At least Robinson volunteered to step aside when he clearly wasn't getting the job done.

Dick Vermeil was a great coach once. His day has passed. Do us all a favor and let us get started on the future without you sooner rather than later Dick.

I still hope we turn this season around and compete for a playoff spot... and if we do I'll still want Dick to retire for good at the end of the season.

I agree 100%

Its time for DV to go. How on earth will we be able to sign good FA's when they know DV & Co will be gone after next year.

I like the direction DV has the team going, but we need someone who will get in the player's faces, smack them on the back of the head (instead of the ass) and wing them around by the facemask. :thumb:

You like the direction of losing 4 out of 5 games?

You like the direction of looking up at Oakland, San Diego, and Denver?

It's time for VickieD to get out of town..and take his buddy Al Martz with him.

I don't think Vermiel is the problem as much as I think Carl is. You guys have done nothing but underachieve under Carls "leadership."

Of course, Dick fought to keep Greg for another year, so he's got to go too... You guys should be in the second year of a new system right now. Hell, look at us. We're in the second year of Coyer's system, and were at the top of the league.

Again, the D gets the blame from someone outside of the fanbase... what a shocker. Anyone who actually follows th eChiefs knows the problem this year isn't the defense: it's very much improved from the past three years under that hack Knobinson. The problem has been, more than anything else, COACHING.

Vermeil has been chickenshit with his game-day decisions and Al Saunders has been a complete hack with the playcalling and formations.

KC has the best OL in the league, the best TE, the best RB, mediocre-to-poor wideouts, and the plan on O thus far has been 'pass pass pass'. It's frigging moronic.

The HC decides whether or not to go for it on fourth down before kickoff because of a bad decision in a previous game? He kicks/punts when we should go for it, and goes for it when we should kick/punt. He lacks 'killer instinct' and lets up in games.

brilliant, wayda add to the thread.

I don't agree with you at all Beer me. I think Dick has done a good job up until recently. It's hard to run an offense without WR's and it's hard to run a defense w/o talent. Dick is a great coach, Carl Peterson on the other hand  well, he's the problem. That being said, I think Dick DOES need to go next year. Time for a clean sweep. Start all over.

Unfortunately, this has a been a re-occuring problem that has plagued this team since the begininning of the Dick/Saunders era. Our offense just goes into these mysterious funks at times were they are unable to pick up first downs consistantly. I think sometimes that Saunders thinks we have Marvin Harrison and Terrel Owens as our WR's. Even last year, our only really good year in the 4 years of the Vermeil era, our offense went into unusal funks unable to sustain drives at times.

Yeah...but then he'd hold a press conference to explain how much of a real man I was to take the punch that way and that no one can understand the kind of pain I'm going through setting myself up to take that punch for the betterment of the team. He'd then have to excuse himself and come find me and give me a big hug....with an ass-grab most likely.

I dont think you are too far off.

I think that Carl is most of the problem. I think that we can use Vermeil as the control here and look at what happened in St. Louis vs what has happened here thus far.

In St. Louis, Vermeil had the personnel he hasn't had here, because of good draft selections and good personnel acquisitions. That year they drafted Torry Holt and Dre Bly, the previous year they drafted Grant Wistrom, Leonard Little, Az Hakim, and the previous year Orlando Pace and Dexter McCleon who played well for them.

Contrast it with the Chiefs. By my count, in 2003 we picked 0 players who will ever be front-line starters in the NFL (would start on most teams at their position). In 2002 we got two players who may turn out to be but 0 for sure starters (sims, fujita). In 2001 we got none, and 2000 we got 1 in Greg Wesley, and Hall, but I won't count him as he's a specialist player.

So, with the Rams in the 3 previous drafts to their super bowl they got 6 guys who are very good players and would start anywhere in the league, and in the last 4 drafts we've got 1. It's really amazing we've been competitive at all, as poorly as we've drafted. We've thrived on veteran players from before the Vermeil era (shields, woods, for example), undrafted or project players who turn out (brian waters, tony richardson), and veteran free agent acquisitions (green, holmes).

Right off the bat, we're getting nothing from 1 of the 4 ways you can bring talent into your team.

If you think about it, if we could have gotten 6 players in the previous three drafts who ended up being players of the quality St. Louis drafted, and sprinkle them around the Chiefs roster at random, maybe we go to the super bowl last year. 3 guys on defense who were real playmakers could have put us over the top I know.

It's not just Carl, it's everyone responsible for the draft, but that I see is the issue that's held us back for so long.

Excellent analysis!!! Very insightful comparing the drafts. One difference was draft positions. St. Arch had a much better draft position prior to their S.B. run. But, it seems to me that Kingless has had the worst drafting ability in the NFL. Even where we drafted we ought to have produced half the number of starters that St. Arch did. My other grip with Kingless is that he didn’t even try to sign quality F.A. .... If he had seriously gone after some then I’d say okay we failed but he failed before he had a chance to fail.

I was going to write that I agree it is time for DV to go .... I think he is still a great coach but a terrible personnel guy. Let’s not forget that many of the personnel decisions were DV’s decisions. Carl set out to get the players that DV wanted.

Now, that said ... LJ is a Kingless decision ... and I suspect much of the draft is on his shoulders.
So, I’m on the bandwagon ... to see him go into early retirement..... doubt that Lamar will do it ... but if it were to happen then we need a new HC .... my only regret will be losing Gun. He is an excellent DC and a new HC will want his own man..
