Cher says to homosexuals if GW is re-elected, that: "you guys are going to be living in some state by yourselves"

CHER ISSUES BUSH WARNING AT DISCO

Only a couple hundred came out to see Cher Friday night at Miami Beach's CROBAR disco, but that did not stop the legendary diva from issuing an election warning against Republican control.

"There were supposed to be thousands of people here tonight. I'm not sure why that didn't happen, obviously the people putting on this thing were just not very good at it," an embarrassed Cher explained to the crowd.

"Alright, but you guys are here, that's right. When I was coming down the steps I though 'Oh s**t, well I'll just go out there and give it my best.'"

The MIAMI HERALD had reported thousands were expected to rally at the discotheque.

MORE

Cher warned moveon.org clubgoers to fight Bush, before "it's too late":

"All the gay guys, all my friends, all my gay friends, you guys you have got to vote, alright? Because it would only be a matter of time before you guys would be so screwed, I cannot tell you. Because, you know, the people, like, in the very right wing of this party, of these Republicans, the very very right wing, the Jerry Falwell element, if they get any more power, you guys are going to be living in some state by yourselves. So, I hate scare tactics, but I really believe that that's true."

"I think that as Bush will, if Bush gets elected, he will put in new Superior Court judges, and these guys are not going to want to see gay pride week."

Cher declared that Abraham Lincoln "looks like Kerry on a crappy day."

Political activist Rosie O'Donnell is set to witness on Saturday night in Ft Lauderdale. O'Donnell will speak on Bush and his policies in Iraq at hotspot CLUB OVATION.

Earlier this week, while surfing the web to see what concerns Pat Robertson might have with President Bush, I was reminded of the incident reported here, from snopes.com Urban Legends website:
http://www.snopes.com/rumors/falwell.htm [Go to this URL to find hyperlinks to source documents]

Claim: * Television evangelists Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson said that liberal civil liberties groups, feminists, pagans, homosexuals, and abortion rights supporters bear partial responsibility for the terrorist attacks on the USA because their actions have turned God's anger against America.

Status: * True.

Origins: * During a September 13 appearance by Jerry Falwell on the Christian Broadcasting Network's TV program "700 Club," hosted by Pat Robertson, the following exchange occurred:

JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America - I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system.

The story was covered in the next day's Washington Post, and a partial transcript of the broadcast was published on the web site of People for the American Way.

In a disingenuous attempt to put a good face on this one, Pat Robertson and CBN subsequently issued a press release in which they maintained that the whole thing was Jerry Falwell's fault, claimed that they didn't understand what he was saying, and blamed People for the American Way for "taking statements out of context and spinning them to the press for their own political ends." (If Mr. Robertson truly didn't understand Mr. Falwell's remarks, one has to wonder why he responded to them by saying "I concur totally" and then elaborating on the remarks he supposedly hadn't understood.)

Falwell attempted to quell the furor he caused by issuing a series of increasingly insincere "I didn't do anything wrong, but I'm really sorry people are mad at me" apologies.

Well, if you believe in a God, and one who blesses those who are obedient, and sometimes judges those who are not, then what they are saying is not all that outlandish from their point of view.

If you paint a charicature of what they are saying, and make it out to be "9/11 happened because of the homos", then yes that by itself sounds ridiculous.

But if you view the statements in the context of a whole worldview, then what you end up with is that they are saying they believe God protects and raises up nations that obey him and eases his protection on those who do not.

It's a conversation that the radical left turned into a talking point but is really nothing that outlandish if you think about it.

Of course it has something to do with Cher. Cher's statements about the political climate that could await gays directly referred to Jerry Falwell, who made the famous quote about gays that I quoted.

I don't see what people not wanting to have a gay pride week has to do with moving homos (NTTAWWT) to a separate state... I'm tired of seeing special weeks and days dedicated to every single group just because they think they're outcasts during the rest of the year, but that doesn't mean I want to send all those people to some isolated state.

Neither has singing, or acting.

Does she HAVE strong points? In a just society, she would have been imprisoned for life for The Sonny and Cher Show. That show scarred me for life.
