Sorry if this is a re-post...I didn't find it anywhere though. kcroyals.com has renderings the proposed Kauffman and Arrowhead Stadium re-modeling jobs. I'll attach them on the next post.

They look really great to me. Now if we can just get a baseball team to move in to Kauffman....

Where's the giant bullet proof forcefield around the K to keep fans and players from getting hit by stray bullets?

They look great, although if we were to cough up the cash to pay for renovations I would expect Glass to do the same and buy us some players. Beltran here's to what could have been.

Very cool, I was wondering how they were going to widen the concourse in Arrowhead, it really completes the building.

Yea..those are nice!! They are basically gonna try and do what they did in Green bay to Lambeau Field.

Last night on MetroSports, some Royals VP (I forget his name) said they expect a $25 million a year bump in revenue if this goes through. He also said Glass has already committed that it would go directly to Allard Baird and Muzzy Jackson to aquire more talent.

I give it about a snowballs chance in hell of passing though.

Not bloody likely. I predict a double digit loss.

Wow, really that sucks. What is the $$$$ amount?

You're probably right. There's too many ideas out there to get a consensus.

What I can't figure out is does the public wanna pony up $350 mil each to build new stadiums?

It's not the dollar amount that people are hung up on. It's the plans for the money.

For instance, they haven't put a termination date or cap on the tax - it's forever, essentially.

I had already planned to vote no before I heard this part, and now I'm an ardent "no" voter:
They have set aside more than $50 MILLION in adminstration costs for the damned tax. I don't know WTF they need that much money, but it's ludicrous. IMO, I could hire a large team of accountants, buy a large office building, and still become a rich man from adminstration charges.

IMO, they're too commercial. But that's the way things go these days.

Nice pics of Kauffman. Now if they could just work on not having a crappy team.

From what? Bob Dole didn't see the strip club and coin-op laundry in the renderings.

Bob Dole should design ballparks.

Along with the other 2 items, Bob Dole would promise a place to get an inexpensive haircut.

Vote for Bob.

That was my thought as well. I really think this would be a band-aid with not much in the way of financial reward.

Thats right. It will give a much needed facelift to the Truman sports complex.

When I looked at the pictures, the first thing that came to mind was that it looked similar to the renovated Lambeau. Does anyone know if they are using the same architects/design team?

I think many teams are making an effort to draw non-gameday revenue from the stadiums. My guess is there will be a sports bar type restaraunt, along with an area dedicated to team history, and hopefully an improved pro shop (the current Arrowhead pro-shop is a joke). They can make it a place that visitors spend their saturday afternoon at, sight-seeing, grabbing a bite to eat, etc.

From what i understand, they want arrowhead stadium to remain the same, but with added ons on the exterior. More things to do, and yes a sports bar.

Kind of looks like they might be adding a press box to the top of Arrowhead on one side. I would imagine this would be done so the present press box could be converted into more Skyboxes for more revenue.

They should add a casino area for slot and sports betting.... and use the revenue generated from them for future renovations.. Although I'm sure nothing like that would ever be approved.

As a Clay County resident, I was going to vote "no" on this up until yesterday.

After doing a little digging, it turns out that both owners have commited to spending some of their own money on these projects. Lamar has commited something like $50 million and I think Scrooge has commited $15 million. These factors alone make me feel ALOT better about commiting tax dollars towards the sports complex.

Also, The Royals have estimated a $25 million / year increase in revenue if this question is passed. Glass has committed that additional revenue to payroll. If that's the case, the Royals total payroll would be up around $65-$70 million.

I think we need to do this to further "raise the bar" in KC. Everyone needs to let go of this downtown stadium BS. It is nothing more that Kevin Keitzman's pet project; something that he would point to and say, "I did that, I pushed for that".

Believe me, I thought (and on some levels) still think that a downtown baseball stadium in KC would be awesome. But that fact of the matter is that it would take much more that the $250 million KK seems to always try to throw out as a price tag. I think the wisest thing we can do is re-furb the stadiums that we have (ala Lambeau in Green Bay) and elevate these facilities to "landmark" status.

Just my opinion.

Why weren't these pictures part of the campaign? I'm voting YES, but it would have been nice for the public to see these pictures of the Arrowhead improvements in advance. I don't think hardly anyone has seen these pictures.

This campaign has been handled badly on every level, only half the money is going to Truman, the rest is being spread around the metro area (yes this does include Kansas). The arts portion of the funding should have been made the major or at least equal portion of the campaign.

The Jackson County Sports authority waited way to long to announce that they would be bringing in members of the other counties to sit on the board and that the advance ticket sales would be opened up to the other counties as well.

I’m still voting yes on this but I also do not think it is going to pass, which is a shame, St. Louis has a very similar tax which is doing very nice things over there.
