OK... Faulk spews through his mask, couple of hours later, the St.Louis Rams are asked to report to the 50 yard line for the presentation of THIER ASSES! http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Corey Dillon chalks up nearly 300 yards on the Donx http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

and Roger Clemens (Major League Baseball Player) claims he confused the "business end" of a Louisville Slugger for a regulation baseball...

....umm....why then would he throw this alleged baseball toward the on-deck circle? http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

what a strange but glorious day in pro sports

NO matter how anyone may try to spin what happened last night when Clemens threw that bat, that was BUSH LEAGUE and should have gotten him thrown out AND suspended.

I never liked Clemens, and thought he was a spoiled brat, but this helped take my opinion of him to the lowest of lows.

in order to have fond memories of a player that achieved "hall of fame status" you think
of someone who left the suspcious behavior (bad boy image) to someone else.

the exception being NFL types

"I thought it was the ball?"
Too bad Piazza didn't have the opportunity to tell Clemens, "I thought your head was a pinata."

after that July "incident" dizzy Piazza probably thought Roger Dodger was the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

So.....today's a travel day for the World Series teams?

well...this thread has not been popular, so I won't trouble too many with my recent thoughts.

It's the year 2000....isn't it a little late for bats that shatter upon striking a major league toss?
Now in the days of automobile safety glass and drumsticks that heavy metal drummers can't break? Just because metal bats could mean more homeruns and more pitchers with head trauma, do we HAVE to have splintering wooden bats? Is it gonna take the loss of a player's or fan's eye for bat construction to change?

http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif am I the only one who cares?

Chief,
The reason all these bats are breaking is because there is no more "old growth" ash, therefore the grain is weak... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif

I was hoping Piazza would walk out to the mound and knock him out with the bat stub he was holding.. Clemons is a chump, he threw at A-rod's head in the LCS,Luckily A-Rod was able to duck just in time..

I hope he gets a start at Shea so he has to bat!.... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif

sweet pic Joe!....clearly shows that fat boy was just innocently tossing that "ball" to the bat boy. Its bad enough that he did it...it's worse that his excuses suck so bad.

in that pic the ump is saying:

"Hey!...Catcher!...your pitcher is about to prove he's a f***ing idiot!"

Joe:

The reason Clemens got the start last night was because if he had gone in the regular rotation he would have pitched the 1st game in Shea and would have had to bat.

Torre knew that Clemens was too much of a weinie boy to be man enough to face a pitcher after all the cheap shots he has made all season.

I liked Dennis Miller going up to Clemens tonight asking him to break the bat in half and autograph it... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif

I generally dont have a problem with pitchers throwing inside, but throwing at the head in the AL where you never bat is the epitomy of cowardice...Joe

I'm not sure, but has Clemons ever batted?
I sure would like to be the pitcher if he did, by god I would NAIL him with my 57 mph fastball!!... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Tomorrow morning's New York Times will run a story on the findings of Frank Robinson, the vice president of the commissioner's office in charge of discipline. Robinson will reportedly declare Yankee pitcher Roger Clemens an "Agressive, unfortunate imbecile. A pathetic dumb beast incapable of cognitive function beyond throwing objects at people and wiping himself."
Harsh.

Joe:

I don't think Clemens has ever had to bat in the Major Leagues.

Joe Garagiola made the comment one time about the fact that A.L. pitchers have thrown more beanballs than their NL counterparts. He observed: "Why worry about retaliation when you never have to go to bat? The greatest service MLB could do is to do away with the DH and watch 1/4 of the Players retire earlier, and Pitchers start to throw more strikes and less beanballs.

Did anyone catch the postgame conferences with Valentine and then Piazza?

Talk about your stupid reporters!

Out of the 30 or so questions lobbed their way, 28 of them were about the bat tossing incident.

I can fathom 4-5 differently worded questions to illicit a response but once the player or coach gives his take then what's the point?

Besides, it's NY vs. NY so who cares if these teams maim each other!<BR>

J.Torre looks like HE wants to slap Roger.

During post-game he(Torre) had a look on his face like a father who's kid was in the principal's office for stompin' the janitor.
