I'd hoped I'd feel better today. I don't. I should be happy right now. I have great seats for the Chargers game next week. God knows the Chiefs should beat the hell out of them. But God also knows we should have won yesterday, won the division last year and won the Superbowl in 97.

I give the Chiefs my undying loyalty. I go to every game I can, buy the merchandise, decorate my home and life in red and gold. In return, I get my hopes and dreams dashed every week. My life is basically pretty good, yet I am mired in frustration and rage. This unrequited love crap is getting old. I'm tired of feeling this way, and I'm starting to take it personally.

If a (a) woman, (b) job, or (c) friend made me feel this way, I'd (a) dump her instantly, (b) quit, or (c) kick his *** and/or never speak to him again. The reasons I put up with this endless abuse by these overpaid, underachieving, sadistic morons who couldn't fight their way out of a sh!thouse are becoming unclear.

Its not that they lose - its the WAY that they lose. Just good enough to make me dare to believe, just bad enough to ruin my hopes and dreams every week. The thought of what interesting plans the Three Stooges, Queen Carl and Endless Runningham have for managing to provide San Diego with their first win next week quite frankly scare the hell out of me.

I feel my tolerance level for this GARBAGE is really, really close. Anyone else feel this way?

Tim,

Time to take a step back, read a good book. I know you enjoy this and just wait for Sunday. I have been through this in the late 70s and most of the eighties and it will tear you up if you fret over it during the week. Unfortunately other than complain, which feels good temporarily but builds up the negative stress in your life there is little you can do. Try my approach a little at a time and hope things get better. If they do not believe it or not you get more and more removed over time and still enjoy the occasional victories.

This is not easy medicine to swallow, but take it from someone who has done it before it is a sanity saver.

Actually, Jim, getting that off my chest made me feel minutely better. A great big butt-stomping win next week would certainly cheer me up.

I may be good luck for the Chiefs - they've never lost a game I've attended at Arrowhead. They also haven't won since the last time I was there - maybe I should go more often.

Thanks, R&G. I'll take a little cheese with my whine.....

Like you, I've suffered through the years. I'll get by - I always do.

Frazod,
I'll personally escort you to your seat...
Agreed. I love Gun, and I GOTTA believe he's going to do something to neutralize JR's "prevent offense" against SD by either:
1. Making JR open it up.
2. Getting personally involved in the playcalling.
3. Unleash Grbac and let him call the plays.

Gun is smart enough not to underestimate the Bolts. Here we have another team that's strong against the run, but also owns one of the premier Safetys playing. The result of Sunday's game rests solely on Gun.
Speaking of "prevent"...I sat at the Murph (or Qualcom) two years ago when the Chiefs came to town...flew all the way down from Seattle for this one. Chiefs were up by 19 points with 9 minutes left in the game. That "prevent" crap let the Chargers score 3 times in less than 9 minutes to win the game by one point.
Unleash the @#$% D and O, and take crappy coaching out of the game! Gaz, you've been slacking off in your duties as the DDS. Bring back the DDS!

Ahhhh.... The mid 70's to 89 period. It's deja vu all over again.

The difference between now and the 70s and 80s, we saw a great team grow old together, and eventually fade away. But we could live on the glory Lenny and the gang had given us. With them gone, we accepted defeat, and winning any game was a huge reason to party. This team has teased us so long, and we have been so accustomed to flirting with the second season (playoffs) we cannot except losing. Steadman made Carl look like a genius, he passed on Montana, to take Steve Fuller, and lets not forget the class of 83. Todd Blackledge, good TV analyst. What I am saying, prepare yourself for the worst, I can see the same thing happening now, the best I can say about GC, is the young players he has assembled for the next coach. With a new coaching staff, another draft, probably higher choices, it should not take a decade and a half to return to prominence.

Yeah kcred, I remember those days. ANY win the Chiefs had was big for me. I cried when they lost (until I was 16) and hooted and hollered when they won. I came into my Chiefs consciousness at the tender age of about 6. I specifically remember one game where we beat the Bengals, I think it was 88. Anyway, the Bengals were awesome that year and went to the super bowl and I went nutty when we won that game. That is still the greatest feeling I have ever had after a Chiefs win in my life. Not that I want the Chiefs to revert to "Crash Gansz", I think it is the only necessary move now. We need to rebuild. We have become very stale and have started making ourselves about as feared as those mid 80's chiefs. I think starting over will get us back to glory faster than continuing the current trends will.
