DVD Software thread [Archive]

Sorry to post this in the main forum but I wanted to get an answer today.
There was a thread a while back about DVD ripping software and, since the search function is disabeled, I was wondering if someone would be good enough to post the information again. Is it free? Does it work? Where can it be downloaded? Are there any free software based players out there?

That's the stuff you want if you're gonna backup DVDs, works like a charm too.

Good. Glad to hear it. I'm hoping I'll be able to play what I rip off my DVD's with a software based DVD player. I've got a 7 disk DVD changer for my home entertainment system but I'm thinking of building a PC to do all this. It'd be nice to have all my movies and my music on a hard drive.
