On November 14, eight members of the UMR Chess Club went to Columbia for a return match with the UMC Chess Club. The match was played in the Memorial Union. A time control of 80 minutes was allowed. This means that each player had 80 minutes to complete all his moves. After the dust settled, the result of the match was a tie, with 3 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws. Club President Gabriel Zlavog had set up the match with UMC and hopes to set up similar matches with others nearby universities and colleges. The rest of the team consisted of Selden Trimble, Tony Rich, Bryan Brenner, Jimmy Townsend, James Muo, Andrew Kaiser, and Jacob Hamacher.

The UMR Chess Club meets in the cafeteria of the University Center-East, alternating between 6 p.m. on Mondays and 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. All chess players are welcome. Contact Gabriel at gzlavog@umr.edu for more details.
