View Full Version : Topless Chick making out with guy on DAYTIME TV...

Edit for clarity...

I am home in front of the tube today... and flipped past "Guiding Light".

They were showing some topless girl from the back (naked back) climbing on top of a guy as they started to make out.

Looked pretty much identical to the MNF intro... only more nakedness.

The expected outrage from all the soap opera watching, stay-at-home, "values" moms will be deafening... Right?

I suspect all soaps will be yanked shortly.

I'm coming in late on the MNF controversy, but I thought it was entirely stupid... and WAYYY overblown.

And the biggest reason is because of the content of the daytime TV shows that have been doing the same thing for YEARS.

Seeing it today just brought the degree of absurdity into focus for me.

Last night's Law & Order showed a woman's naked butt...then a guy holding a towel in front of himself just enough.

Maybe I'm wrong (I've never watched a soap opera), but haven't these shows always been pretty racy? If so, one would expect to see some skin if you tuned in to watch. I'm not sure the same can be said about MNF.

Then again, I thought the whole MNF thing was pretty benign.

So are the "moral values" of TV allowed to be lower for stay-at-home-mom's, baby sitters, and pre-schoolers? Than for the 35 year old beer drinking adult male football fan?

Beats the sh*t out of me.

Just saying that one would seem to expect to see some flesh on a soap, but not on MNF.

Then again, I'd have been just fine if whatshername had shown her t*ts instead of just her back.

Somehow I just don't get the visual of most Mom's plopping the 0-5 year old down in front of the TV for soaps, but YMMV.

I think you're missing the point. The way I understood it, the biggest beef was families being exposed to questionable content during a program that would give no expectation of that content. People know Soaps are racy, people know late night dramas are filled with sexual content. People up until that game had a reasonable expectation to not be exposed to that during MNF.

They're not argueing whether or not it was dirty or "that bad". They're saying that they tune into a sports program expecting to see sports, and had no reason to anticipate something of that nature.

So let me get this straight..they can put a topless chick on a daytime soap for women but they can't come up with a late night show with bare jugs for us? That my friends is the true crime.

The regressive, "Do as I say, not as I do" -crowd is trying to exert their influence on popular culture... it's stupid, but if you watch the news you'd assume that our country gave these people some sort of "mandate".... but whatever.

well I would bet that it was a white guy with a white girl. People may not want to admit this, but the outrage from the MNF game with Owens is that it was a black guy/white girl. The "naked" truth.

For the sake of playing devil's advocate...

Beer commercials and cheerleaders (another popular defense of sex in football) play on physical attraction, but not sexual inuendo. There's a difference between short skirts or bathing suits, and naked. There's also a difference between dancing and wrestling (Miller Lite ad), and wrapping your naked lower half around a man's waist. It's not about the skin shown, as much as the suggestion of what is transpiring.

Think of it like this

Little girl: Mommy, why is that woman wearing that?
Mom: It's bathing suit, she must be at the beach

vs.

little girl: Mommy, why is that woman naked?
Mom: Um, because she's about to take a shower.
Girl: But there's a man standing there, and you said girls shouldn't show their private places to boys.

And that's ignoring the woman jumping onto the man. How do you explain that?

I don't think it's unfair to expect a certain level of cleanliness associated with sports. At least not when there's been no precedent for it. If ABC were to run something similar now, it reverts to old saying "fool me once, shame on you..."

People expected a certain level of innocence in MNF, and they didn't get it. They were unsatisfied customers that made it known.

The only "mandate" that was won in reference to the subject that you're pretending not to refer to, is that people are still homophobic. But that only explains one state...how do you explain Iowa?

because nobody wants to say it. if it was Peyton Manning and that chick it wouldn't have been a big deal. The only other reason I can see is that Owens is already disliked enough because of his controversial celebrations and the comments he makes and that just gave the media another reason to take a stab at him I'm sorry, but that's bullsh*t. It didn't even occur to me that it was an inter-racial relationship until somebody brought up this race crap. And most people I've talked to have said the same thing. I might have bought that line 15 years ago, but it's just not that big of an issue anymore.

It's that much more silly when you point the finger at an audience that heaps worship on blacks every bit as much as whites, if not more.

Sometimes I forget I'm a racist, but luckily I have black people to remind me.
