Another thread sparked this idea.............

I challenge you to list technical and cultural innovations since the Last time the Chiefs made their way to the Big game.

While this thread is surely a vehicle for future smack, It will hopefully be viewed as motivation for improvement.

The Space Shuttle
Fuel Injection
Microwave Ovens
Rechargable Batteries

I'm pretty sure microwave ovens were made before 1970.

Good point. I'd go with invention, but its up to you. You started the thread.

IIRC Microwaves made their way in to households in the 60's, but they were BIG and expensive. Rechargeable batteries were invented in 1899, so i'm assuming they made their way in to households much later than that.

IMO the "inventions" approach will do just fine. There have been a lot of things that are commonly used that were "invented" post 1970. The list should be quite impressive. 'Course, I'm just a lowly N00b (sp?).

Flashmatic: The First Wireless TV Remote
Zenith engineer Eugene Polley invented the "Flashmatic," which represented the industry's first wireless TV remote. Introduced in 1955, Flashmatic operated by means of four photo cells, one in each corner of the TV cabinet around the screen.

While it pioneered the concept of wireless TV remote control, the Flashmatic had some limitations. It was a simple device that had no protection circuits and, if the TV sat in an area in which the sun shone directly on it, the tuner might start rotating.

LAN and "other networks" have nothing to do with the Internet. The internet was developed as an "unbreakable" means of communication if for some reason we were nuked in to oblivian. The "Internet" , as we know it today, isn't checking your yahoo mail and downloading porn, its a means of communication between billions of computer systems throughout the world. Check your facts.

I was almost done,,,my older two at 14 and 18 could take care of themselves, now I have a 3 year old. I have nightmares thinking about kindergarten again. So I want no more,, but am always willing to try.;)

I'm actually coming down your way next week. We're refurbing an old observatory out in the hill country. It's gonna be a pretty sweet gig.

I'm kidding, though. Don't get your hopes up.

You only wish I was getting my hopes up!ROFL And aren't you glad you will be in the warm weather soon. I will be coming up to St Joe on the 19th and am not looking forward to the cold. So where will you be at down here?
ps, I changed my mind, if I was 100% sure I would get a girl I would do it again.:thumb:

I'm 100% sure I could get you a girl. Ask your husband if he minds.

I will be. I already put most of my shorts away for the winter, though. Guess I'm getting that bin down soon.

We're leaving early Monday. Anticipate being down there for a little under 2 weeks. Internet access is crap in the hill country, so I'll probably be missing all you guys.

We'll have to setup some sort of watch party so you can meet some of the KC crew. How about MNF on the 20th?

I lived in Houston for 9 years, so I know. I don't know how many people would be willing to drive up to St. Joe for MNF. Especially when it's NE vs. Miami. We may need to compromise a bar on the northside or something. Or, there's games on the 24th and 26th. The proximity to the holiday will eliminate a lot of people, but then again, there will be extra people in town for the game, too.

I dunno. You should start a thread about it, I guess.

Hell......Coke invented, produced, marketed and retired a new formula in the timeframe.

Yugos were designed, built, marketed, sold.......bankrupt, and most of them are probably crushed or waiting to be.

The Saturn car line has had time to be created, marketed, and climbed to relative market success while waiting on the Chiefs to get to the superbowl.
