Why? Is it because they have a town called Deadwood?

Since I have traveled through both I would have to say South. The scenery is better with the Black Hills. That Sturgis thing is pretty cool as well.

They also have Wall Drug.

That's easy. South Dakota. The Black Hills are my favorite place on earth.

How did ND become a state anyhow? I thought you needed 10 residents to apply for statehood.

West Dakota has the most pristine beaches Bob Dole has ever seen.

While we are talking about South Dakota, we already planning the 2nd Annual Sioux Falls, SD Chiefsplanet meet. Last year we had 4 people, we are looking to DOUBLE the attendance in 2005!

Definitley South Dakota- Lived there for almost 10 years. I always took comfort in the fact that when it was 25-below in January in South Dakota, by God, it was at least 40-below in North Dakota.

Wasn't there some remote initiative to combine the Dakota's a while back or was that just another binge induced hallucination?

I remember a short-lived discussion about changing North Dakota's name to just Dakota, which ticked off South Dakota. It was kind of like the feud between Martin Gramatica and Todd Sauerbrun.

in effect doubling the state's population.

South Dakota....Duh......after all, Mitchell is the home of the Corn Palace.

Black Hills, Crazy Horse Monument, Mt Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Mamoth Site...........

North Dakota probably smells like Canadians.

Teddy Roosevelt was the greatest thing that ever happened to this country.

South Dakota for obvious reasons. The best years of my short life were spent in Yankton, which was the first capital of SD.

The nicest people in the world live in South Dakota. It's nice and windy there. Damn, the only good thing in Iowa is the detasseling. I wish I lived back home in SD...

SD will always be home to me, I guess. Did you know Tom Brokaw was born in SD? Yep, right near Yankton, in fact.

It's also got some deep Native American roots. Did you know the film Dances With Wolves was filmed in South Dakota? At least part of it, anyways.

I onced hauled a load of bulls to Eagle Butt South Dakota with a buddy.........we went out to some cafe 80 miles away, where 9 bachelors were sitting around a single round table. The conversation revealed that between all of them, they had less dates than GoChiefs, III, and Slayer combined...........Unless they fornicate Sheep, or those signs they place every 50' where another Indian crashed while drunk.

Teddy's crib was in North Dakota, I hope you know.

Like I indicated, I don't give a rip about Teddy or his crib. I also don't care where he lost his virginity, I'm not impressed by places where he slept, and if his face weren't carved in stone I'm sure we would have all forgotten about him long ago. ;) j/k

SNR

Alright, you f*ckers can have your damn Black Hills and Corn Palace. I would rather live in North Dakota. Here's why.

-Wouldn't want to live in the Black Hills and become desensitized to its beauty

-Sioux Falls, while growing, is still a small city. And it's pretty shitty for being just a small city. Downtown Kansas City is MUCH cleaner. And it probably has less crime for that matter.

-Wouldn't want to live in NE SD because you are in the middle of nowhere (any asshole who is about to say "the Dakotas are in the middle of nowhere" can stick their tiny dick into a light socket)

-This leaves a couple towns like Huron, Brookings, and Watertown and central SD where there is nothing (yes, in this case, Pierre, the state capital, counts as nothing)

If you're going to live in a rural area, why live in South Dakota with the higher taxes?

If you're a college student, there's no way USD/SDSU compares to UND/NDSU

If you're a farmer, there's no better place to farm than the Red River Valley in North Dakota. Purest, richest soil in the entire country.

Oh, and another thing, you would have the honor of living in the same state as me.

Choose North Dakota, bitches.
