Heard this on Howard, taken from Page Six.

December 7, 2004 -- GEORGE Carlin ended his relationship with the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with a devastating diss the other night. The caustic comic finished his four-year run with a dark set that included riffs on suicides and beheadings, and made it clear that he couldn't wait to get out of "this [bleeping] hotel" and Sin City. The Las Vegas Review-Journal's Norm Clarke reports that Carlin told the crowd of 700 that he was looking forward to going back east "where the real people are." He added, "People who go to Las Vegas, you've got to question their [bleeping] intellect . . . Traveling hundreds and thousands of miles to essentially give your money to a large corporation is kind of [bleeping] moronic. That's what I'm always getting here is these kind of [bleeping] people with very limited intellects." When a woman yelled something that sounded like "stop degrading us," Carlin fired back, "Thank you very much, whatever that was. I hope it was positive; if not, well, [bleep] me," using slang for oral sex. Strangely, though, Carlin isn't ready to leave town yet: He's jumping to the Stardust in February after a falling out with the MGM Grand.

He's right you know... spending the $ to go to Vegas to lose even more $ is pretty moronic. Unless, of course, you're a masochist :D

I spend money to fly to KC.. then spend even more money on Chiefs tickets, beers, etc.

Only difference is there's zero chance of a return on the money I spend on Chiefs tickets or at bars.

If spending money on entertainment makes me a moron, then so be it. Money's for spending... and I like to be entertained.

I've never had too much luck in Vegas but I've left Atlantic City with thousands more dollars than I've arrived with.

Say what you want about Vegas but as far as being entertained there aren't too many better places on earth to sew your oats.

Still waiting to make it to Amsterdam however.

Okay, just kidding about the last part. That one's essential.

I should really get around to that someday, too. Bet I could do it for the cost of just a few weekend trips to Vegas.

We always argue about who is or isn't a real fan. Carlin was talking about getting back east to where the real people were. You and HC started a dustup, it seemed to follow logically.

I don't get the deal with Vegas. You can go to casinos here. You can go to bars here. You can get drunk at a casino here and stay awake all night. You can go to strip clubs here. What's the difference?

Yea, cause we all know the health repercussions of gambling. But man do I like hitting the jackpot on a line of coke.

It's almost as dumb as wasting money on shotgun shells to shoot into the air in hopes of hitting a duck.:p

Speaking of which, I have a couple of friends that have done nothing but talk about duck season for a month. They built a 'blind' for their boat--they do this every year and then get up at 2.30-3.00AM to go hunting on Saturday--where they get to the water and basically sit for 2 or so hours before they can fire a single shot because you can't hunt before 6AM or daylight or whatever...Of the dozen or so times Ive known them to go, I think they've fired one shot at a duck.

It may not be wasting money, but I fail to see anything even remotely fun about sitting in a boat at 3AM freezing my a$$ off and not killing anything.

Titus - it is like the Harley Davidson saying, "If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand.".

I've hunted ducks all of my life. It is like it is in my blood. It's like you have to do it.

Don't understand it myself. I like sleeping in on the weekends. I hate the cold. But I still do it. Don't know why I guess.

The only place I know of with cheap chow is in downtown. I don't think I have ever come across a bargain like a $1.95 steak on the strip.

Of course, a $1.95 steak is a $1.95 steak...

For the record, I have nothing against duck hunting. I just don't care for someone coming in and calling one of my hobbies "stupid" simply because it's doesn't offer the same entertainment value to them as it does me. It seems that much sillier when you consider the number of people that enjoy gambling compared to the number of people that enjoy other forms of entertainment...like duck hunting for example.

That's the same feeling I have about deer hunting. One season I agreed to go deer hunting with my dad and brother if they would go fly fishing with me.

I sat quietly and froze my ass off watching squirrles for 7 hours. A couple months later they spent an hour and a half on Clarks Creek removing thier line from trees and slapping each other with fly rods before giving up and going to the truck.

They haven't busted my balls since.

When I was there in April we stayed downtown. That was the first time I stayed downtown. I think if I ever (and will) go back I will stay down there again. The hotels are cheaper, the food is, and so is the booze. When we were there the Horseshoe opened back up. They had $1 domestic beers and $1 Skyy vodkas. Needless to say, we didn't go too many places else.

I think it was the Golden Nugget or the 4 Aces that offered a $5.95 12 oz. prime rib with all the trimmings, but I think you had to have it before 11 p.m. or something. That was a pretty good deal. On the other hand, I wasn't going to waste a $100 drunk on a $5.95 meal at 10 o'clock at night either.
