Yea, I saw this show last night also.
Gotta admit though, never knew that the Gremlin was the race dominating machine they said it was.

My mom had a Gremlin when I was younger. That was the ugliest damn car, I was really happy on the days that I missed my bus she also had her Caddy.

I found the best way to piss off younger Nova owners was to tell them that originally their "hot rod" was a family car. When they argue, I just tell them to ask their dad. I know I have pissed off a couple people with that one.

From the pictures I just looked up on the net, I'm leaning towards the pacer, but damn those both are ugly.

Pacer, by far.

My Dad had a Gremlin when I was kid. This was during the time of gas rationing and you could only fill up on certain days. He bought it because the Gremlin had a 25 gallon tank and got reasonable mileage for the day.

It was huge piece of crap though. One day we are driving home and hear this horrible rattling under the hood. Dad stops and looks back on the road and the A/C compressor is laying on the ground.

As a kid, I had a friend who took his metalic green Gremlin and fixed it up.

Crager mags
Dropped a 4 barrel carb on the 6 cylinder
fat 60's and skinny 70's tires
Cherry bomb exhaust

Damn thing ran good, looked good and that basturd always had the girls.

The Problem twasn't so much the damage to the Pacer, but he was eatin one of them corndogs from the Sonic, and when it hit, it drove the sharp end of the stick through his cheek.............We're gonna need about $450 for that...........and I'm gonna have some satisfaction, elst I'll be putting a popknot on your head so tall a calf could nurse on it.

I'd have to pick the Gremlin over the fish bowl.

On a side note, if I remember right it took about 3 to 4 hours just to change a valve cover gasket on the inline 6 cyl. in the Pacer. They had the engine set so far back in the compartment it was tucked under the dash. What a biatch.

The Gremlin X was no competition for my 71' Maverick Grabber. There were a few of them running around here back in the day, they were fast, but not fast enough.;)

Awww yes, the grabber. Another modern marvel that was designed by a group of engineers that were obviously under the influence of mind altering chemicals. ROFL I had a buddy that owned one of those gems in high school. He would go out on weekends and knock over those big black garbage containers in alleys with it. He called it "The Plow."

I'd probably get the same response from him as I did when he was about 5 yrs. old at the family X-mas party. All the little ones ( around 12 of them) were gathered around the tree as one of the older nephews were handing them presents one at a time. Everyone would wait until each kid unwrapped the present then the next kid would get one. After about 8 or 9 kids had unwrapped theirs to find the glorious toys they had all only dreamed of and had asked Santa to bring them it came to Matt's turn. Everyone was cheering him on....'open it Matthew'....'oh boy'......what did santa bring you' as he frantically tore at the paper all of a sudden his face turned from glorious joy to confusion then to pure rage. It seems he had been handed a flannel shirt to open instead of one of his toys. He stood up raised the shirt high over his head and slammed it to the floor as hard as he could and screamed "IT'S NOT FOR ME". He was thinking that was the only present he was getting at the time.
Everyone just busted out laughing. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen

You ever try to change the plugs in one of those things? The Grabber had a 302 V8 (at least mine did) and I swear they put the engine in it with a freakin' shoehorn. I got a lot of bloody knuckles from working on that car. It was pretty quick for a POS though.

I had a buddy that had a Hornet as his first car. He ended up taking out the back seat of it for two reasons; 1) So he didn't have to give rides to so many people and 2) so he had more room for the empty beer cans.

On the Chevy Astrovan, one plug can only be reached through the left front fenderwell. And then it takes a 3' extention on the ratchet wrench. I'm sure are plenty of them running around with the OE plug in that hole.

Now that was just wrong! I did have long hair back then.

It was a POS but it had a fold down bed, a Refrigerator, plenty of room for a keg inside the sliding door, no A/C and the same blast furnace of a heater that the Bug had. :banghead:

Oh yeah it had a closet with room for plenty of guns to shoot tasty animals with.

AMC also made an Eagle that was a 4X4 car. Thereís a guy running around C-Town with a brown and copper one just like this.
Iím assuming itís about the same platform as that Kammback

Thatís nothing. One of my friends used to own a Mitsubishi Diamante, V6 front wheel drive. When he went to changing spark plugs he found that the front three were easy enough but the back three couldnít be reached, so he called a dealer asking how. They replied that you have to unbolt the back engine mount and rotate the engine forward to reach them.
Instead he just traded it.

An imaginary gnomelike creature to whom mechanical problems, especially in aircraft, are attributed.

Hard to believe AMC went under.
