View Full Version : Under The Gun

Here is something interesting I found in Whitlock's article the other day.

Offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye doesn't seem capable of formulating and operating an offensive game plan that makes sense. Special-teams coach Mike Stock also should be in trouble. KC's special teams were just as miserable as you remember.
And judging by the frustrated press-box phone calls that president/general manager Carl Peterson made to the Chiefs' sideline, Cunningham's Sunday performance will be reviewed harshly, too.
The early third-quarter usage of Moreau and Anders wasn't the only questionable personnel move. Peterson wondered why pass-rush specialists Duane Clemons and Gary Stills sat out Tennessee's game-tying touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.
"Where's Clemons? We need him right now," Peterson barked into the phone.
(Clemons, who played the best game of his professional career, might have been resting his sore hip.)

A few minutes later, Peterson picked up the phone and called KC's sideline again.
"Get the word to Gunther that Gary Stills is available for the pass rush," Peterson said. "He's standing right there available."

In six seasons of covering the Chiefs, I'd never witnessed Peterson get so involved with what was happening on the field during a game.</font> But in six seasons of covering the Chiefs, I'd never seen a coaching staff so in need of help.

Makes you wonder if Peterson will light a fire under this coaching staff this week. I really hope so. Strange how most everyone seems to be on the same page, including Whitlock, except for our coaching staff.

I'm not a big Whitlock fan but I did find it interesting that Peterson was just as upset as we were about some of the decisions that this coaching staff was making.

Dan this is correct. I think I'm going to write an article about this inept coaching and gun's inability to admit wrong doing.

Gun blames himself and then doesn't do anything about it...I'm confused.... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/eek.gif

Think Peterson is regretting his decision to hire Gun?...not yet probably and not ever if we go to the playoffs this year, but if we don't Gun is gone along with Raye, Stock and Schot...

We have too much talent on this team to waste it because of poor coaching...and we are a young team...we could be very good for a long time with the right leadership...

Get it together Gun or you'll get plenty of sleep next year...

Dr Red,

I will be watching out for your article.

Yeah, Peterson may be starting to regret hiring Gun for the job. How about this. Do you think that Gun is starting to regret the decision to keep the assistant coaches here when he was hired? I like Gun. It would be too bad if one of his first coaching decisions is what eventually costs him his job.
