I couldn't figure out why in the hell Richardson was in on the play he fumbled:

From DV's conference:

Q: On Tony Richardson’s fumble, I question why Derrick Blaylock or Larry Johnson wasn’t in there.
VERMEIL: “Tony Richardson would normally go in many times because he’s our best pass protector. We had a mix-up, that’s all, a break down in communication in the whole scenario which can happen. It happens maybe once a game but that was critical. You’ve got different coaches involved, a guy on a headset with (offensive coordinator) Al (Saunders) and other coaches that are watching for personnel because we keep our personnel separate on the sideline so they can’t make defensive calls early. It got screwed up.”
Q: Should Derrick Blaylock been in the game or was he hurt?
VERMEIL: “No, no. Larry (Johnson) was supposed to be in there. But it could have been…just take it as it is.”

Meh. I don't think that outcome's all that different w/ LJ in.

Hey it worked out. It was all a part of the scheme.

Not saying it would have been. The play was busted because someone missed their blocking assignment. The fact that they'd call that play, with 2 minutes to go, with Richardson instead of Johnson, when Johnson had taken the same play to the house earlier, was what bothered me.

Yeah, I gotcha.

Which might lead one to question why I posted what I did.

Um, I'm just gonna go sit in the corner now.

For a guy who refuses to point fingers at the worst defense in the NFL he sure is quick to point one towards LJ.

I just figured Al was trying to fool the defense by putting our best pass protector in there and fooling the defense into a draw play. I'd imagine the defense was more prepared for LJ or Blaylock running that draw, not T-Rich...

My thoughts exactly.

Saunders need to stop outthinking himself.
