Baxter, Hartwell and John Abraham, please. One guy to address the D at each level.

Mr. Kotter

Personally, Baxter, Hartwell, Morris, Darius, Givens and Abraham would be my priority targets.

Smoot, Caldwell, Calmus, Fields, Rogers, Hovan, Streets, Taylor and Carter would be secondary. :hmmm:

It's a nice list and I like lookin at stuff like that but when March 1st 2005 rolls around that list will probably not look the same. It may be better or it may be alot of those guys sign back with their current teams. Right now all I can think about is riding 3 hours home with the thrill of a victory over the Donks makin me grin :) the whole way :thumb:

You can't have him, but at least do your homework.. Ken Lucas blows the doors off smoot or any other FA corner this year..

I guess I should add IMO..

Target these twelve: hope to sign 6 or 7....and I'd be happy.....fill the rest with draft/trade of Blaylock/LJ. :thumb:

Our "fix" is as easy as, A-B-C-D-E-F-G.... :hmmm:

:p

A - Abraham, John DE
B - Baxter, Gary CB/Burress, Plaxico WR
C - Calmus, Rocky LB
D - Darius, Donivan SS/Dyson, Andra CB
E - Edwards, Antuan FS/ Ellis, Shaun DE
F - Fujita, Scott LB (resign)
G - Givens, David WR
H - Hartwell, Edgerton LB/DE Hovan, Chris DT

Ahhh.......I feel much, much better. :thumb:

Too bad, we couldn't get away with just A-B-C..... :banghead:

I'd like to get Will Witherspoon for WLB, Hartwell for MLB, Fred Smoot for CB, Dwight Smith for our other CB, and Jerry Porter for WR.

Stay the hell away from Hovan, he is god awful

I think Smoot, Abraham, Bell and Stokely would dramatically improve this team but Smoot and Abrahams respective teams are likely to break the bank in order to keep them.

Chris Hovan is an overrated piece of shit. The only reason he gets any camera time is cause he puts alot of make up on.

realistically speaking, hate to break it to ya guys, but, some of these names will be tagged. i.e., Charles Woodson, Donovan Darius, Fred Smoot.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but, I think some of these "so called" UFA's have already been inked to multi-year deals, i.e, John Abraham, Julian Peterson

Where's the WR list? We need a #1 WR too.

An astute reader would note that my post said "DEFENSE only".

Find some offense homer to do your dirty work, you lazy offensive homer.

I'd like to see us break the bank and sign Fred Smoot. He would be my first preference of choice, since we desperately have to fill our needs at CB. However, I think it is highly unlikely he'll end up in KC. Gibbs has already indicated he likes Smoot, and considers him a top priority for the franchise to retain his rights for the upcoming future. As a second option, I've heard some really good things about Ken Lucas, and wouldn't mind if we took a look at him.
That pretty much sums it up, for all that I really like when it comes to the CB position in the FA market. The CB position isn't really a hot commodity on the market this year as opposed to the way it was last year. I'm all for either Smoot or Lucas. Then, there is Gary Baxter. I wouldn't sign him, too inconsistent. Unless, we decided to convert him to FS. It's just too bad, we don't have one of the worst records this year, that way we can snag Antrel Rolle in the draft. But, then there's the option of trading for a better draft pick to acquire Rolle's rights. So, who knows? I'd like to see us address the CB's situation this year. as a matter of fact, I'd like to see a whole new secondary next year. Wouldn't this be nice,

CB-Smoot/or Lucas
CB-Rolle
FS-Baxter
SS-Wesley

Id say a cut in salary should motivate each player.

Or give every incentives to make plays..

each tackle was $25,000

each sack was worth a cool $100k

each passing touchdown was $50k

each rushing touchdown was $45k

gain over 100 yards rushing per game....150k

interceptions $40k

interceptions followed by a runback for a TD would be $80k

etc etc

I agree it is unlikely Smoot hits the market. One of the reasons the Redskins were willing to trade Bailey is that many people thought Smoot outplayed him last year. And this year, Springs has gotten much of the pub for replacing Champ, but Smoot has played as well as, or better than, Springs.

That being said, he would be a great pickup. He is a warrior, who plays hurt and is not afraid to hit someone. Plus, he has a team-first attitude, unlike Champ, who was only concerned about getting press and getting paid while in Washington. Except for his penchant for trash talking, Smoot is a throw-back type of guy.

wasn't Smoot available for a 2nd round draft pick just last year?

Two years ago, after a subpar second season, Smoot's name was brought up in trade discussions with Detroit. It involved other players and draft picks, including the second overall pick of the draft, not just a second rounder.

I would love to get QB Mike McMahon...not that there is anything wrong with 0dd T0dd.....but he ain't getting any younger and neither is Green....and with our track record of drafting QB's....plus I think he has shown an ability to start at the NFL level...his carreer numbers aren't great but he has only started 7 of 20 games and the talent level around him in those starts wasn't all that great...

I'm serious. I've seen McMahon play several times and he is wildly innaccurate. He is a loose cannon with no place in a sophisticated offense like the Chiefs. I seriously doubt if he has the ability to read a secondary when the bullets are flying.

The only other QB on that list that is a viable option is Hasslebeck....but he will be in his 30's by the time Green goes

Baxter, Hartwell and John Abraham, please. One guy to address the D at each level.

Too good to be true, but Carl did say he would address the defence didn't he?

Laz,

I do not like Hicolas Harper. Anybody from the Colts secondary, no thanks. Trotter would be an adequate pickup. Only for depth reasons, he can't perform like he used to. He's had too many injury concerns regarding his knees.
