I know it's difficult to fathom but the Cardinals can win the NFC West at 5-9 with two games to play. However, it's hard to tell what is more improbable --the Cards winning their last two or the Rams and Seahawks each losing their last two:

Cardinals @ Seattle; Home against Tampa Bay
Seattle Home against Cardinals; Home against Atlanta
Rams Home against Eagles; Home against Jets

Cardinals will have a legitimate shot at being the top 'o division next year with Seattle and the Rams probably looking for new coaches, and San Francisco well, sucks.

I just find it amusing that the 9ers only two wins are against the Cards.

Getting swept by the worst team in the league. Shitty.

Well obviously, they aren't the worst team in the league then...

Yea.... but on December 12 the Cards had an incredible fourth-quarter comeback to overcome a 28-3 deficit and tie the game. If you remember, Todd Petersen won the game for the Niners in OT.

As long as Dennis Green threatens players within inches of their lives anything is possible :thumb:

That division sucks. None of them deserve a playoff game.

I'll take the Cards. I just don't see St. Loser or Seattle winning at all.

This isn't freakin' hockey. The prospect of someone getting into the playoffs with a losing record makes me want to :Lin: .

A question for the history geeks, has it ever happened before?

It could happen.
I worry about Atlanta resting starters in the last game against Seattle though, since they've already locked up a first round bye.

Hopefully, if we do make it, we'll get to punk Minnesota again.

I'm pretty sure I recall seeing mentioned on TV this season that it has not.

So, when was the last time that happened in hockey, hmmmmmm?? :harumph:

I think you meant NBA.

Bump

At 5-9 the Cardinals control their own destiny!

Toughest game of the scenario (IMO) is Cards at Seattle. The Rams seem to be done even with Philly & Jets at home.

check this out...
if the cards win the division, they'd be the #4 seed.
if the other wildcard advances, we'd host the nfc championship. unfreakingbelievable.

here's this from cnnsi, just for the hell of it...

6. Josh McCown
22/34, 287 yards
2 TDs, 0 INTs At this point, is anyone not rooting for Arizona to win NFC West at 7-9? 10.5

27. Jake Plummer
23/41, 292 yards
1 TD, 2 INTs Leads league in passes listed with no intended receiver (14). Explains a lot, doesn't it? -5.2

I for one would love to see the 7-9 Arizona Cardinals be the #4 seed in the NFC.

Talk about hilarious.

Anyone old enough to remember the days of NFC superiority?

...

Since no one is going 0-16 this year this is by far the best thing that could happen.

I'd wait a week before you put the Cards ticket office on speed dial...

Yeah, and remember the days when we beat them on a regular basis? As Phil has noted, we are 1-3 against the NFC this year.

Ok, it's been a while, 1999-2000. I guess it seemed more recent because I probably haven't watched hockey with any regularity since then.

Wasn't meant as a slap at hockey dude, I got nothing against the sport.

The deadline's today at 5:00.
Only had to dial once. They were busy, but were nice enough to have some highlights on the phone while I waited.

I hope they get there, and it's blacked out. I'd laugh my ass off, all the way to my seat.

So after we win this week against the Tards, we get to win our division AND get a good draft pick.. :thumb: We've struggled lately on purpose.. It was all part of Holmy's evil plan ... Muwuahahaha..

Hmm...

Could there be a Top 10 picking team in the playoffs this year?

With the NFC, anything's possible....

Three years ago 10 NFL teams were within a game of 8-8. Two years ago it was 15... last year was only 6, but this year it could be over 20. That's not just parity, it's bad football.

I couldn't remember the last time it happened in the NHL, even though they tend to have one or two teams that are near .500, like the NBA & NFL... I just remember last year the NBA had 2 teams under and two teams at .500.

Denny Green is 10-5 against Holmgren.

You're team is weak, leaderless and both of your quarterbacks are bald.

It's going to make for a nice follow up to the Suns beating the Sonics at home.
