View Full Version : Should I work at Burger King or Arbys?

Currently, I work at the Young Arena. But it's just a weekend job. Granted, it's not bad for just a weekend job (5 hours a night, 5.15 an hour), but I want more, especially with a European trip in the near future.

I never imagined myself working at some shitty fastfood place, but who the hell am I kidding. I'm 17 years old. I shouldn't be holding out for some management position at an accounting firm.

There's no way in hell I'm working at McDonalds though. Well, here it goes...I can see myself flipping a pretty mean whopper....

/sigh

$5.15 an hour? I would've thought minimum wage was higher than that by now.

When I was 17 (in 1997) I got a job doing tech support for a local ISP. Basically got paid $7/hr to surf porn all day.

Beats the hell out of fast food.

While there's certainly enough of it to go around, I can't imagine anyone is interested in paying for it.

honestly, apply at both... because qualified or not they might not be looking for help... then if you get an option, it doesn't really matter. I'd personally work at arby's because I like the food better... and it's easier not to get fat eating it.

I think overall, for many reasons I'd choose arby's

you're not going to have to grill any meet ever... Every arby's I've seen has seemed to have a more agreeable *pace* of work then any burger king. blah blah blah... I'd choose Arby's.

He hasn't directed since the late '90's and the films he produces aren't blockbusters.

That job pays very little. I usually just accept some film memorablia.

If I were a young student I think I would go for a job at a resturant like Chile's or Applebees as a waiter. You would earn more with tips and such. Not sure how your state does it but waiters here still have to earn minimum wage the tips are all gravy.

Get a job at a movie theater man.

You could even whip up a resume for that one. You love movies, you want to make movies some day or some bs , you just want to be arround movies.

It would be way more fun working there, don't you think?

While I never had the displeasure of working fast food, from what I've heard, the less greasy food the place cooks, the better off you are. I'd go with Arby's.

Years ago, a buddy of mine worked at Captain D's (Long John Silver's type fast food fish place). Everything was deep fried, and every night when he left he was caked with grease. It ruined his shoes and basically every other article of clothing he wore while he worked. Doesn't do any favors for teenage acne, either. Or your waistline from eating the shit (not like you'd want to after a while).

I don't know why you'd switch to either of those, but I think you would prefer Arbys.

The Manager at your Current Employer says you're top notch at your job, working in Shipping and Recieving.

You are very wise for your age. I absolutely hate greaseland (aka McDonalds). Arby's and Burger King (in that order) are by far my favorite fast food (of the unhealthier type) restaurants.

I'd try to get a job at the Truman Sports Complex as a food vendor. I did that from 1982-88 (high school and college). You get paid commission, somewhere around 20% of your sales. They pretty much hire anyone. You start off low on the seniority list, so you don't get the pick of the best jobs (i.e. you might have to sell Cokes in the upper deck of a cold April game), but even on the worst nights, you make more through commission than the minimum wage. If you don't, you get minimum wage for that night. Generally, you'd work from about half-hour before game time until the 7th-inning stretch, about 3 hours a night.

It's a great job. You make lots of money; you earn more the harder you work; it's interesting, and you get to see a lot of the games.

The Royals season has 80 home games; the Chiefs have a few games in the Summer/Fall and, now that I think about it, I guess the Wiz probably has a lot of games also. Still, the schedules work out so that you can squeeze in a day job as well.
