View Full Version : Len Pasquarelli Giving Jared Allen Some (Well Deserved) Love

There are plenty of deserving candidates this season for defensive rookie of the year. Cornerbacks Dunta Robinson (Houston) and Chris Gamble (Carolina), safety Michael Boulware (Seattle) and linebacker Jonathan Vilma (New York Jets) all qualify. But one player who should not be overlooked is Kansas City defensive end Jared Allen. The fourth-rounder from Idaho State, a big-sack guy at a small school, leads all rookies with eight sacks. He has managed to transfer the sack skills he displayed in college to the pro game and, when he matures physically, should be a double-digit sacker. He is certainly deserving of being on the short list.

When you consider Allen would have a couple more sacks if not for some inopportune penalties and when you consider Allen didn't even play in two games and didn't have more than a token role until the second quarter of the season it makes his performance even more noteworthy. Personally, I'm hoping he gets into double-digits in sacks, does it this week, and gets the nod for defensive rookie of the year for being the bright spot on an otherwise terrible defensive squad.

It'd be great for Allen to get some votes, and he deserves some votes. He doesn't have a chance in h-e-double-toothpicks of winning either of the awards, though, because Ben Roethlisberger will get rookie of the year and Dunta Robinson will get defensive rookie of the year.

A game against the Fade could change your opinion. Collins, in true statuesque form, could get Allen DROTY honors all by himself!

If this guy turns into even half of the player that DT was, it will turn out to be a hell of a pick for a 4th rounder. How come Carl can pick ok in the lower round but always misses in the 2nd??

Yeah wouldn't it be great if he could pick up 4 today and one or 2 next week.

I will settle for a couple today against the faid just so he can get to 10.

Makes us think, :hmmm: maybe the Chiefs will have a good draft this year. since we got 3 5th round picks, and 2 6th round picks. Maybe trading down with Detroit, and trading Truluck could be steals for us. Could you just imagine if we got quality players like Brady, Z.Thomas, or Driver with those trades?
Ahh well at least we have the freedom to think, dream like this

He deserves it.
I was talking to some other footbal fans about it.
I got a who's that.....
Let's hope he gets a couple more and ties DT rookie record at 10....
That should ensure him a mark on the short list.

Out of all those extra picks, we should be able to find at least 2 or 3 starters for this defense.

Not to piss in the Post Toasties, but I believe we lose one of our fifth rounders to Philly for Welbourne.
