Okay, I know I've started a thread about this before, but I just saw the movie for the first time yesterday. Great movie. Better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, IMO.

(Dunno... not very much, but still... spoiler alert:)
One thing about Chinese movies is once you get past the bad acting (although this was better than most) the film is more of a piece of art than a story. I noticed this in the different colors of each variation of the story told. The transfer from yellow to red in the imaginary fight between Snow and Moon was pretty cool. I have no idea wtf the colors mean, but it's cool nonetheless

The background, music, action scenes, story line (although it got kind of confusing at the end).. everything was great.

I gotta ask, I ain't seen any of the movies you talk about....but do any of them shed any light on the age old question: "Chinese cooter: is it really horizontal?

Dunno. But Moon in this movie is hot!

Its the same chick from Crouching Tiger and Rush Hour 2. Definitly hot.

The same guy who made "Hero" has a new film in theaters right now. Its called "House of Flying Daggers" and is supposed to be just as good.

Check out a movie called "The Emperor And The Assasin." It's basically the same story, done far better. None of that flying or walking on water sh#t. Great production value. Strangely, it's kind of "The Godfather" in costumes. Excellent movie.

I have seen Crouching Tiger and IMHO it was just ok! It is really not my kind of movie. The FX were pretty cool. I don't think I will be seeing Hero.

Been meaning to check that one out for a while along with another from the same director, "farewell my concubine".

It's a touch better than CrTi. But all the flying, water surface running, and deflecting millions of enemy arrows on every other scene gets really old really fast. Emp&Assas is much more seriously grounded film with at least the same production value.

I think I'm racist because I don't find Chinese women attractive, I hate Chinese drivers, and I don't particularly enjoy Chinese films.

I do like Chinese food, though.

I dunno. What should I do?

Oops, we're talking about Chinese aren't we...

Okay...don't look and complain..... This is the third picture in google when you put in "Chinese porn"

Again, this is not "work friendly" or "child friendly". Your wife make like it though, depends on how liberal she is I guess.

If you're not into kung-fu movies, it probably won't have as much to offer. All the same, it has stunning visuals and some cool special effects. If you're a home theater buff, this movie will really show off your TV...amazing colors. There were some of the typical hokey scenes where the flying is just silly, but overall it's an excellent story told in a manner that is pleasing to the sense of sight.

IMO these are merely the "artful" and more expensive versions of the old 'Hong Kong' movies. My son's Chinese friend says that back home they are actually considered silly and not representative of Chinese cinema by many Chinese folks. True? Granted I was entertained very much by the visuals, but give me "The Emperor/Assasin" or "The King Of Masks" anytime.

First off, I gotta say that in this movie Maggie Cheung and Zang Ziyi are beautiful.

But the DVD really squanders the cinematography of this movie. So much distortion and edge enhancement. Maybe there will be a remaster in the future.

I liked HERO thought the story was good and liked the twist at the end. The lighting in the movie kinda reminded me of the Kubric films i dont know if the director shot it in natural light or what, and the sword play was good the violence tasteful when one on one.The arrows do get lame after the billionth salvo.

we're sick about this kinda movies already.
if you wish to watch realy martial arts movies rather than the special effects, pick those of Jackie Chen's would be a better idea.
