Bob Dole kept expecting him to kill himself, but then Bob Dole realized he probably would have read about an event like that already.

More proof that drugs are bad, m'kay...

It hasn't changed my world 'cuz I don't know who they are. I've seen Pantera live and I still don't know who they are.

With that having been said, I think they need to put this dude on MTV instead of Ozzie Osbourne. He's a lot better than Ozzie.

I like how he scapegoats the heavy metal media ROFL

Kind of.

He was Pantera's vocalist.

dang... old phil's f*cked up on something...

he certainly has a lot of nerve even trying to apologize to dime's
family, or to vinnie. perhaps there is some truth to what he had
to say about heavy metal media, but from what i've heard, he said
some ridiculous sh*t to dime and vinnie before dime was shot.

took me a while to get over pantera breaking up. they were pound
for pound one of my favorite bands. chances of them getting back
together are 0... that really sucks.

R.I.P. dime...
certainly a legend among guitar players.

So, what kind of chit was he talking on Dime bag and Vinnie? I just don't keep up with bands much anymore.

So, what kind of chit was he talking on Dime bag and Vinnie? I just don't keep up with bands much anymore.

he was saying that dime and vinnie were the reasons that pantera broke
up. that they were idiots/losers/douchebags etc... pretty much insulted
them, said they were drunks and musical retards and that he (phil) was
always the driving force behind pantera's music.

said their new project (damageplan) sucked, and that his (phil's) new
band (superjoint ritual) was true metal music and not the watered down
p*ssy-assed commercial metal that dime and vinnie were playing.

now wether or not this sh*t-talking is correct and not metal magazine
fabrication remains to be seen. i would imagine there was some truth
to it as dime's family would not allow phil to be at dime's funeral (and
also might be partially the reason that phil kept ass-kissing apologizing
to dime's family in the video). some even say that things that phil said
might have been the driving force behind the gunman's motive(s) in
shooting dime (as phil blamed a lot of pantera's break-up on dime).

regardless, phil's always been a hotheaded dick, but i still think the
sound they had as pantera was one of the BEST metal acts of all time.
too bad there was a falling out... perhaps things would have been
different and dime would still be alive.

I remember reading an interview with Dime, while they were trying to promote Damageplan, about the breakup. According to him, Pantera was still under contract for 1 or 2 more albums, but Phil was really pissed about that, because he wouldn't have time to do his other projects(Down & Superjoint Ritual). Apparently, Phil was making life a living hell for everyone, so they just finally said to hell with it, and split up.

I agree with Loki, Pantera was one of the best metal acts of all times. They were all really cool to all of their fans. I met them on more than one occasion. During the earlier years, Phil was really cool, but it became obvious when he started diving into drugs big time. He was a totally different person. By the time Pantera had broken up, I had lost quite a bit of respect for him. It was obvious he was always on something, even to this day, from the looks of his newest video. It's too bad, I had always thought they would get back together someday. No chance of that happening now.
