What do you guys think of this guys story? Samuel L Jackson is on Dr. Phil right talking about the movie and the "Real life" story. Apparantly the real Coach locked his players out of the gym after they had failing grades. Sounds like someone finally stood up and did the right thing. Nice story.

Think of the damage that man did to the self esteem of those failing players...

:)

That would be Oprah, not Dr. Phil.

I always thought Dr Phil was a little more "tough love" than Oprah.

Haven't watched either one enough to know for sure.

My thought exactly. Pass and play has always been the rule where I have gone to school.

What is different in this guys story is he locked out the gym to his players during a winning season. He shut down the whole program. No practice, no games for any of the players until they got their grades up.

The school board did that for a few programs in Texas and Oklahoma a few years back as well - in all three big sports.

It is cool that a Coach took the incentive, but if the school board was doing its job, he wouldn't have to.

Exactly. I think this is where the movie gets its drama from. Apparantly quite a few parents, the principle and school board members objected to his actions.

this sounds like the edgy new movie to show to teens out there

Well luckily for the kids AAU doesn't care if you can wipe your own ass. If you can dunk you play

I was being sarcastic, any time a show is called Edgy, fresh or any bullshit like that, it has been done before.
