I've seen a few lists, but they had no dates, so I'm unsure as to their validity. Have any of you found a reliable site that has been updated sometime in the last month?

Something that shows by position who is a UFA / RFA?

You mean we’ve got the chance to get “Shut down” Dale Carter back?! We should so jump on that. ;)

Actually I wouldn mind at all if the chiefs picked up DE Reggie Hayward, CB Ken Lucas, MLB Edgerton Hartwell, and OLB Will Witterspoon, I would feel very good about our Defense if we picked up those guys.

Then we need to take a corner in round 1, quarterback in round 2, and a free safety in round 3.

Unfortunately, MHM, there doesn't seem to be a bumper crop of starting QB's available this offseason.

There's no way in hell we get all 4 of those guys.

I'll be pissed if they don't resign Hayward ... a year after letting Berry get away.

Will Witherspoon has only played 3 years---he's not unrestricted. The website is wrong.

I didn't think it was totally accurate overall.

Hmm, ok, well hopefully we could get Hayward, Lucas, and a FS.

You're getting steadily more realistic.

Myself, I'm not that high on Hayward. It's probably because he was a Sucklone... :D

Well I want Hayward, he's done pretty good in Benver, and maybe he could come back and haunt those Droncos, hehe.

You're ranking Nick Harper above Smoot? Not sure about that...and I'm not that high on Anthony Henry either.

Brian Williams is a tough one to read, that defense is a mirage -- it made Antoine Winfield look pretty ordinary at times this season...

Stat-wise in 04 (I know stats don't tell the whole picture), Harper and Smoot are pretty identical. But Harper is getting up there in age, and Smoot has defensed almost twice as many passes.

I'm convinced...Smoot moves up on my list (even though he's a RFA).

I'm going to leave Henry at #3 for now simply because he's an UFA.

Thanks for the feedback, htismaqe.

I doubt it will happen. We just draft Kawika and I do think he will be a play maker. As for the OSL AND CB pick I wouldnt mind it but it will more than likley not happened with Carl Peterson as our GM.

OK. Let's hear why; that's why I posted this list.

Harper, Williams, and Henry have all 3 been part of VERY BAD defenses in Indy, Minnesota, and Cleveland. They've all been there multiple years, suggesting they're PART OF THE PROBLEM.

Are you saying that b/c Dyson is a former Gunther player?

shaneo69
01-12-2005, 01:59 PM
OK. Let's hear why; that's why I posted this list.

Mathis is a journeyman who has bounced around three teams as a part-time starter and is now over 30. Henry had 10 INT's as a rookie nickel back but hasn't been good as a starter on a terrible defense. Harper has also played on a terrible defense and is also over 30. And Williams is a restricted free agent.

Dyson has been a solid starter on a good defense. Well, the defense was good up until this year.

If you want to believe what PFW is saying, Tampa can't afford to keep both Brooks & Gold:

The Bucs angered fans last offseason when they allowed longtime stalwarts Warren Sapp and John Lynch to move on, and it’s considered a given that QB Brad Johnson and RB Mike Alstott both will be gone by the time training camp opens in July. But one name that might be even more surprising is that of LB Derrick Brooks, who holds a $9.8 million salary-cap number for next season. Brooks certainly could restructure his contract to stay in Tampa, but should Brooks balk at reworking his deal, the Bucs seem comfortable in going with younger LB Ian Gold. Gold’s cap number balloons to $8 million next season, and he has earned starter’s money with his play. The problem is that if Brooks decides to restructure, Gold may find himself in the same situation as RB Thomas Jones last season. Jones had a strong finish to the 2003 season, but the Bucs weren’t willing to pay him starter’s money, and he bolted for the Bears. Team observers say the Bucs likely will opt for Brooks to keep a familiar face from the rebuilding days in the locker room, but Brooks may make the decision for them if he isn’t willing to rework his deal.
