Anyone saying DB can't provide impact because of new rules is kidding themselves.

The problem is that they need to adjust their 1st season.

Big catch there. Sucks it's a catch 22 . We need a DB but their first year is almost always crap. Last years top corners(from houston) may provide hope.

I would not be at all against the Chiefs drafting an impact player at safety. They can get in on many more plays than a corner.

HUGE difference between a safety and cornerback.... and Polamalu is a 2nd year player.

I guess Thomas Davis is the closest thing, but I think Detroit may jump on that before we get a chance.

The Chiefs could have had this guy. This was the guy the Steelers drafted last year when they traded up into out original slot and we dropped down to select LJ.

He wasn't bad, I wouldn't say that a rookie can't come in and play cornerback, it's possible, but with the "contact" rules and the increased speed of NFL WR's, it's a risk giving a starting CB spot to a rookie because he's probably going to make mistakes. Dunta Robinson is one guy, but on the flip side there are plenty more stories out there like Ahmad Carroll of the Packers, who got toasted repeatedly in getting the Packers knocked out of the playoffs. I don't mind spending the first rounder on a corner, but I think a FA needs to be brought in, and if that rookie earns a starting spot over Warfield, great, but worst case scenario would be that he's the nickel corner (and a great improvement over Bartee).

definitely a free agent CB necessary.
