Did anybody quit anything for 2004?

I didn't either. In fact, I continued my nasty habit through Jan 1st so it couldn't be a dreaded "New Year's resolution".

But, I've kicked copenhagen. No side effects at all. The only thing is that my mouth feels lonely all the time. Hopefully that security blanket craving will pass, but I'm not feeling any nicotine cravings at all. I don't miss my $1200 a year habit and I don't miss the nastiness either.

During the many times I've tried to quit over the years, I've tried a lot of different things. Green tea (dipping it just like tobacco) helped reduce the "lonliness", but stains worse than the tobacco - LOTS worse. Seriously, I didn't have any stains from copenhagen from years of hard use. But after dipping green tea for a month, I had stains.

I've tried sunflower seeds and they help, temporarily. I've tried nicotine gum which is even more expensive than the copenhagen. I'd say gum is a decent substitute. This time I'm using sunflower seed infrequently and gum.

Heh. I don't buy that stuff. When I partook as a younger man, I always mooched. It's not nearly important enough to me to buy it, but if a buddy was sharing, I'd hit it. I had an opportunity to smoke some about a year ago and declined. For some reason, I just didn't get as much pleasure from the high as a lot of people do.

I'm uncertain of the draw. It's a nasty habit, but that's all. I've tried to quit a dozen times and have for weeks and months at a time. I've never felt any withdrawal symptoms. But I always went back to the crap. I can't explain it. I never particularly enjoyed - except the first couple months.... when you could catch a quick buzz from the stuff. After that it was pure habit for me.

ROFL

My grandfather chewed for years. When I was about 4 or 5, we were sitting on his front porch and I asked him about it so he gave me a little. Being young and dumb I took it. We sat there a few minutes just chatting away, since I didn't know what to do when I was done with it, I swallowed it. It was the nastiest, raunchiest stuff, I never chewed again.

Good Luck, Phobia!! You know chewing and smoking are oral fixations. Maybe you try putting something else in your mouth so that it won't be quite so lonely. Perhaps you should go and talk to Pink if you don't like JimNasium's offer!!

16 days for me bro....I've come to the conclusion that I'll always want cigs...and I'll have to fight it everyday for a longtime. Might as well start now. I've made it tough too...I've been drinking several times and hung with friends that smoke too. No gum or patches either..

Word of caution ... (write this down, GC) some urinals have a faster flow of water, so don't hold down the lever especially during a long piss. Splatter factor will be the least of your concerns, especially if you're wearing sandals.
