Need more info -
Are you getting any particular errors? Why is it you are trying to restore your system?
If you're hard drive is tanking/tanked, you might need something better than the windows supplied scan disk to avoid the bad sectors etc. It may also be beyond help. Sometimes drives die, for $$$$$ you can almost always get someone to retrieve "lost" files but it really depends how dead the drive is for how much they are going to charge you.

If you are still intersted scroll down to "End it All"

Downoad Version 2.
Kill everything but the neccessities and you should be able to do a full scandisk. I use to use this program all the time. Pretty simple and small.

Thanks for the site..I am gonna check it out.:thumb:
I used to have a problem with my scan disk on my old computer. Seems it didn't have enough memory to handle scan disk when the screen saver came on. I had to disable the screen saver and couldn't run other things while it was scanning. Or was that defragmenting? In any case, I upped my RAM from 64mb to 320. Problem solved.
