All FReepers and lurkers in good standing are invited to join the D.C. Chapter in our demonstration this evening. Details in the following press release:

DEMONSTRATION IN SUPPORT OF JEFF GANNON
&
THE FIRST AMENDMENT

WHEN: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2005, 6 P.M. TO 8 P.M.
WHERE: THE SIDEWALK BY MONICA’S GATE,
AKA THE NORTHWEST VISITORS ENTRANCE
THE WHITE HOUSE, 1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., NW, WASHINGTON, D.C.

(Washington) The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, an independent grassroots organization, will be holding a demonstration at the White House this evening in support of former Talon News White House Correspondent Jeff Gannon and the rights of other reporters to do their jobs without fear of being destroyed by the political establishment.

The group will also be bringing attention to several First Amendment-related issues pertaining to the current imbroglio. Among them are the unconstitutional efforts of Democratic congressmen to determine who is a reporter and efforts by the establishment media to shut out Internet-based news sites from having access to government press conferences.

Kristinn Taylor, Co-Leader of the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, issued the following statement: “It is common knowledge that Jeff Gannon was singled out for personal destruction for the crime of asking a question of the President of the United States at a press conference that was insulting to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“The Clintonista slime machine, led by former Clinton White House Chief of Staff John Podesta’s Media Matters for America, went into high gear and made an example of Mr. Gannon to any reporter who might dare to challenge Sen. Clinton’s credibility in her anticipated 2008 presidential candidacy.

“What was done to Mr. Gannon was the Clinton impeachement era Ellen Romesch strategy played out for all concerned parties to see. The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic will be out demonstrating for the rights of Mr. Gannon and all other reporters to exercise their rights without fear of personal destruction.” ROFL ROFL ROFL

I don't think that Kristinn Taylor's comments are at all inaccurate. I think the Democrat establishment moved and will continue to move quickly to slit the throat of anyone who might take a shot at Hillary. They know she's seen as fake by a lot of people, they will continue to attempt to drag her opponents down to her level and portray her as a victim.

I always enjoy visiting the www.freerepublic.com website. There have lots of posts indicating a high regard for personal liberty and freedom. I also like their format for posting links to whatever stories are being discussed.

Actually the remark was about 'Dingy' Harry Reid and Hillary. No mention of Harry though...

and give me a break. If there was this much dirt on any so called 'elite' media 'journalist' then the RWNJs and Faux News would be spontaneously combusting with glee.

Their folk hero is a GAY prostitute/pornographer who happened to ask a question friendly to the Prez. He's the same type of guy they'd normally being trying to jail, get kicked out of the military, removed from serving as a teacher, or try to portay as sinner and yet he's some sort of hero because the MSM is after him????

ROFL

This is going to be a fun four years!!!

I'm still waiting for conservatives on this board to denounce Gannon and the whole phony media propaganda thing that this administration seems to employ, but I guess "Bush conservatives" will be hypocritical to the end.

CLEARLY, if this had happened in a Clinton White House there would be jism all over the place.

Nothing like needing others to find your own self-worth.

I would think that one of these days the moron would learn that by sticking BOTH feet in one's mouth, you have nothing left to stand on... but, nope, the moronic takes continue. I swear, I think the moron has found the fountain of stupidity.

Hopefully your side will continue to act as retarded as they have been the last 10 or so years and give you many more years of fun.

The fact that libbies like Duhnise and penchief are focused on a webpage author as their recent venue for animosity shows how desperate they have become.

Look a web author lied about his past and asks easy questions from the White House.

I tell you what, penchief, when you condemn NBC and the NATIONALLY VIEWED Dan Rather for their misleading the ENTIRE American public, you may use the word hypocrite in this thread again. Until then, you are a joke.

I think it's hysterical to see the philosophical cartwheels they are doing to defend this guy.

Oh Russ, did ya happen to catch the latest that your boytoy Gannon might have a link in CBS getting the false story in the first place. Now won't that be an interesting coinky dinky...

No, I hadn't.

Does that somehow make Dan Rather less culpable? How many threads have you created regarding Dan Rather and his misrepresentation? I wonder why?

What a "coinky dinky" indeed.

We really need to give this kind of statement a class all it's own.

When somebody mentions anything that begins with "If this happened in a Clinton White House", or If this was Bill Clinton we were talking about",...

Perhaps we could call it Penchief's Law?

The idea would be to debate a particular topic without falling into Penchief's Law and mentioning what the conservatives would do in this particular situation "If Clinton had done it.".

Of course, I'll need Titus to give the go ahead before anything official goes into ChiefsPlanet lexicon.

And just for the sake of evenhandedness we should have one for the conservative side as well.

Penchief can give the name to that law.

Considering the trials and trevails of Barrett Robbins, and to a lesser extent, Tim Grunhard, I am going to have to believe that the fella's on the Planet should stay away from this dude Gannon's website.

Having a Boy Gannon or Toy Cannon around your crotch is bound to bring some bad luck.

I am not trying to be vain, but we could call that jettio's law.

Yeah, that is why liberals get banned within seconds of posting...

I will second memyselfi's sarcasm.
