View Full Version : Seven Gannon Stories On Front Page (5 From D-Nise)...Care To Condense?

RINGLEADER

I know the Jeff Gannon or Gurkett or Gukett or whatever the guy was named story is the story du jour for Dems trying to tear down the president but I was hoping someone on the left could quickly give me the Reader's Digest version and how this tracks back to Bush. I've heard that Rove knew the guy who funded Talon News and GOPUSA, but how does this story track back to Bush exactly?

Up front I'm not saying there isn't a story here nor am I saying that there isn't something that could hurt Bush politically...just that I don't have time to go through all the different threads and since they're not talking about this much on the cable networks I've got playing in the background while I work I haven't been able to keep up with it.

Thanks! :thumb:

Invocation of penchief's law in the first reply?

Argument lost by default.

What makes you so unhappy?

I think the strategy is to make as much noise about it as possible, and suddenly it will turn into a story.

Why are you so unhappy?

Oh, and to remark to the thread:

No there should be no condensation of these threads. It's exactly why this forum was born.

Now, why are you so unhappy?

Are you asking Ring why he is so unhappy about people creating threads about Guckert?

Yes, I was remarking to Ringleader. He's a multiple thread poster from way on back. So it's kinda silly for him to ask to condense these threads when that's the reason this forum came into being.

Perhaps he was tired of him being the only one that gets called out on that, a little backlash on his part.

BL is right about what RL meant this thread to be.

I don't know how to condense the story thus far.
We are still in beginning stages of it, I think.

The basics are that a man who was selling himself as an escort was let into the White House press room, even before his news organization existed.

He was allowed to ask questions of both the POTUS and his press secretary, and the pattern is that everytime the person speaking got in a jam with a real journalist, Guckert bailed them out.

He pulled his own page and stories within hours of his webpages being identified, and the pictures and registration showed that he name was actually JD Guckert.

He then went on television and lied about his past and present. He said that they were not his webpages, that he was doing them for a client, which was untrue. The web designer that did the work for him provided receipts and archived copies of the work.

Guckert is also in the middle of the Valarie Plame scandal, and well as knowing many confidential details within the White House, such as when the Iraq was was going to begin.

There's plenty more that I haven't even mentioned.
I think wikipedia is working on an entry.

Hum, interesting that JJGG acknowledged his prostitution being in the past and yet some of his ads were still current after he was employed with Talon and in the WH. :hmmm:

Gannon commented that these activities were in his "past," however some noted that many of his online gay profiles were still active after he had resigned from Talon News [4] (http://americablog.blogspot.com/2005/02/if-this-is-your-past-then-why-are.html).

These findings had some critics questioning Guckert's sexual orientation. Supporters denounce this speculation as irrelevant, but others say that it reveals hypocrisy on the part of Guckert, his employers, the White House and/or the Republican Party. Opponents note, for instance, that Guckert had made statements in articles that could be perceived as anti-gay or homophobic. During the 2004 election, he wrote that John Kerry "might someday be known as ‘the first gay president,’" and that Kerry had supported "the pro-gay agenda."'

uh, the excerpt, following my observation about him claiming his prostitute activity was in the past but he still had ads online, was from Wikipedia and NONE of it is opinion in nature but rather mentions the controversy...

And I have no problem with him being gay. Being a hypocrite about being gay is a problem.

OH MY EFFING GAWD!!!!!!
So those two snippets could be perceived as homophobic, but there's nothing whatsoever to perceive when ol' Dean guffaws about all the colored folk on the hotel staff?

Fine with me if you condense but may I suggest the following:

one thread with the response (media or otherwise) to the JJGG story (the Brits, Keith, the RWNJ, this thread)

another thread with JJGG being the story (Gay Monica, JJGG friends at Freepers, Rove Flunkee, etc)

No, I understood what RL said AND agreed with others who thought he was suggesting that a condensing of threads was a good idea...

since it was brought up.

I wasn't going to offer RL a 'condensed' version because he's a big boy and seems to manage to read what he finds relevant thus I doubt he'd actually believe a condensed version of all the threads and relevant points that I offer in the first place, so why bother.

My point (and suggestion to condense) was there are basically two angles to the story hence the two different categories I suggested.
