Here is another Blind Melon Ablum. This one was put together and released after the singer, Shannon Hoon, died. The Band wanted to release an album that showed what an unreal talent he really was and also so his baby daughter would have one more thing to remember her father by. The photo is of Hoon's forearm. That tatoo is a prayer his grandmother used to say to him all the time. Its called "God's Presnce"

God's Presence

If my path be smooth or rugged
If with thorns or roses strewn
Where I go the Father seeith
And He will leave me not alone
-----
If I take the wings of mourning
Far within the silent sea
Even there His hand will lead me
Even there my God will be
-----
Though the gloom of night be round me
Though I cannot see my way
Yet the Lord will see and guide me
Because unto Him the night is day
-----
If my thoughts are good or evil
Set me think to hide them not
There is one above all seeing
And he beholdeth every thought
-----
And ever more my eyes beholds me
And all my ways to Him are known
And His loving arms enfolds me
He will leve me not alone

Back in college I worked in a radio station with one of the largest selections of vinyl in the state of Missouri. We had over 25,000 albums. I really miss vinyl records, because the album art was really cool. You don't get the same effect on a CD booklet.
Browsing thru the thread I've seen a lot of my faves...

Todd Rundgren "Wizard a True Star"
Led Zepp "Houses of the Holy"
Yaz: 'Upstairs at Eric's"
Spinal Tap "the black album"
Cars "Candy-O" with Vargas girl on front...yowza!

There were a lot of cool albums that had unusual packaging, like Led Zepp's Physical Graffiti with the windows, Stones "Sticky Fingers" with a real zipper on the front, Stones "Some Girls" with the bra ads...

Some albums had colored vinyl. I have Fabulous Poodles "Think Pink" on Pink vinyl, Incredible Shrinking Dickies on Yellow vinyl, some cool picture discs from Rhino...

Double albums used to have cool posters like the Beatles "White Album" or Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon."

Nobody's mentioned the scarriest album cover of all time...John Lennon's "Two Virgins" with John and the Yoko Monkey butt nekkid. Yikes Yoko....take a weed whacker to that thing!
Family friendly photo is attached...

Another Dream Theater cover. This is on their website. I actually bought this CD before they removed it from store shelves. Now it's a collector's item.

The initial release of "Live Scenes From New York" was pulled off the shelves until alternative artwork was available. The original release date was September 11th, 2001, the day that terrorists crashed two hijacked passenger jets into the World Trade Centre towers. The original artwork for "Live Scenes From New York" featured the World Trade Centre towers in flames. This was of course a horrible coincidence that had to be taken care of.

Lynyrd Skynyrd "Street Survivors"
Censored because the band had just been in an airplane crash that killed singer Ronnie Van Zant.

Beatles "Yesterday and Today" (butcher cover)
Censored because the studio thought it was deplorable. Urban legend says that the cover was Lennon upset at the studio for making them put out a "greatest hits" album and chopping up the work. Lennon denies this.

Alice Cooper must be mentioned here as well. The first album, Pretties for You, had a pair of paper panties in it. Schools out opened up like a desk at school and I think it came with crayon or something, and From the Inside came with a certificate of Mental health. Gotta love the Coop...

I actually got the "From the Inside" album from my uncle when I was ... I dunno, about 10 or so.

It's never been played, but messing around with it was pretty cool.

My favorite isn't really a cover, per se, but the jacket for "Minute by Minute" by the Doobie Brothers. I can't find a pic, so I'll take one when I get home tonight and post it.

One of my favorite Cooper projects.

I'm assuming you're a collector,if not,why did you never play it?
