Draft Derrick Johnson and sign Trotter or Hartwell, couple that with Fujita and the Chiefs could have a very fast LB Corps this year. If Johnson pans out Trotter\Hartwell improve the already fast Fujita.

It's one of those Boom or Bust situations but we could very well be hearing about how good the Chiefs starting linebackers are come November.

We won't get Johnson unless we trade up in the draft. If he somehow drops to 15, it'll be because he murdered someone before the draft.

How about just if he helped a murderer?

Oh - that's okay. Then he can become defensive MVP and attribute all his qualities to his mother during his acceptance speech. If I were a mother and my accessory to murder son said something like that about me, I'd stick a knife in him.

I think Johnson has a chance to slip to us. If players like Merriman and James keep impressing Johnson might get bumped back in the pecking order.

The mock draft I saw had Johnson going to us at 15. I'll admit CP is too stupid to trade up. But none the less.

Being fast doesn't concern me. Just don't be slow and be physical against the run and tackle.

Mr. Jouhnson from one draft site said he doesn't take on blockers well but could help the pass rush.

I don't know about that.

He did trade up for Tony G and Ryan Sims. One was good, and the other right now is debatable.

Speed is imperative at linebacker. I agree we need to be physical but that should just go with the position of linebacker contrary to what Kawika Mitchell shows us. But you must have speed if you want to "swarm the ball". Speed also has a tendancy to offset other weaknesses.

You realize that movie is so lame that your reference is only valid for another 20 minutes before it drops to eternal obscurity.

You'd think the Chiefs should actually get those guys on the roster before stating they stand to have the top LB unit in the League next year.

and both those trade were only 2 spots each

2 times in 14 yrs under carl and we got hosed in value each trade

Yeah don't let the contents of my post get in the way. I know I always read a thread title and start commenting without reading the post! :thumb:

If by some incredible stroke of luck Derrick Johnson even fell out of the top ten...we'd have a shot...but we'd have to move up to get him...cause he won't last till 15. I can never see the Eagles letting Trotter go after his performance last season.

There is Hartwell too if we do not get Trotter. Johnson I think is becoming more realistic at 15 for some reason or another.

Some here have us picking up two CBs in FA and another in the draft, 2 LBs and another in the draft. How are we going to shore up our other positions? IMO we can pick up one CB in FA and the draft, a LB in FA and maybe a later round pick, plus we need to pick up a safety or DE in FA and draft the other position. That's very consistent with what CP said in picking up 3 FA, which is about all we have cap space for anyway. We also, as has been pointed out, need to prepare for age on the Oline. Any dream of picking up other WRs is a pipe dream considering our defensive deficiencies. We got two in the draft last year plus an Hback.

I'm not completely sure about this, but I don't think murderers fit DV's profile.

You're forgetting that after we sign one of the over priced prima donna CB's that we so desperately need more than a LB that that will eat up about 3/4 of the money that we have available. We'll be lucky to resign Fujita. :banghead:
