View Full Version : Prayer Request

Hey gang!
I have a simple prayer request. My dad has been suffering from cancer for awhile now. He decided to forego chemo etc as it wouldn't do him any good and went the Hospice route. We were told by the RN Monday that he has a week to 10 days left and that the cancer has gone to his brain. I love my Dad and this has been and will be the hardest days of my life so far. Mom (76 years old, married to Dad 58 of them) has been a trooper so far but she now requires 24 hour assistance taking care of him. I will be going there tomorrow and will stay as long as she needs me, my brothers, sister, niece and nephew have pitched in so far, now we're in the home stretch.
Please guys and gals, add my Dad (Perry Zarger) to your prayer lists for a peaceful, painless and short journey, and for Mom (Ida) to have the strength to say goodbye and live without the man whom she has lived for all this time.
Thanks in advance, you are all a great group of friends (both real and imagined ;) )

Pam aka KS Smitty

Done. I hope your family has the time for some closure with your father. My grandfather passed away a couple of months ago. He had a chance to spend some time with his family before he died and it was very healing for all involved.

Done....twice.

My dad also has cancer. It's a slower growing kind so we haven't had to deal with your situation yet. But eventually.....

Stay strong. God be with your dad, your family and you.

Sorry about this misfortune. Remember the good times, and celebrate your father's life when the time is necessary. Some people grow up without a father, so just remember how lucky you were and how valuable he is to you and your family

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. It's been a pretty rough day, he was pretty agitated earlier but he's settled down finally. He's accepted that he's leaving us and we keep telling him it's ok to do so. Hopefully the rest of our time with him will be calm and restful. Mom got to do some things she hasn't been able to the last few days, so she feels better too.
Again thanks so much for caring!

Dad passed Friday afternoon. Thanks for all the good thoughts and wishes. Please keep Mom in your prayers for the adjustment she will have to make when we've all gone back home and she has to face this empty house alone. You are a great group of firends.

So sorry for you, Pam. Losing a parent is never easy; and you have to give yourself time. Mom need time too.

I lost my mom nearly 10 years ago, too soon. PM me, if you just need to vent. :)
