I know, I dont want to overspend for Free Agents, but just once id love for us to be agressive and get some big names in here right away. This lowballing and cheap 2nd tier free agents hasnt won us a Super Bowl in 15 years so you would think that Carl would have tried something different this season??? Sigh......

We have been aggressive and gotten some big names in here.
How can you say you don't want to overspend and then say it sucks when we go cheap.
How do you know we have "lowballed" anyone?
Trotter was on NFL Network and said nothing to indicate that in anyway. If anything it indicated that we weren't going to OVERSPEND on a LB that has knee problems and has failed once with another team. Don't misunderstand I wanted Trotter the most out of the FA MLB.
Again with Rolle all we know for certain is that we didn't offer him a contract that he couldn't refuse which would equate to OVERSPENDing.

Bottum line is we are a couple of days into FA and we have looked much more aggressive than in past years.

Last time we overspent for one of the "top" free agents in the market and didn't let him leave, it was for Shawn Barber. The other previous time we overspent for a free agent and didn't let him leave, it was for Johnnie Morton.

So really, overspending for a guy and not letting him leave hasn't really paid off big dividends for us. We need to be smart about the guys we sign this year, not necessarially aggressive. Because it doesn't pay off to be aggressive if the guys you sign don't play up to their worth...

No, Carl needs to go and all of the player/talent evaulators underneath him all need to go. If we would have drafted better over the past 5 years we wouldnt have to go out and find big name free agents. Whitlock wrote a good article about this a few months back.

Why does every single "doom 'n' gloomer" on this BB find it necessary to start their own "the sky is falling" thread? One of the other 15,000 wasn't good enough?

Well if they don't win this year DV is gone and hopefully they'll follow him out the door.

In the meantime I'm hoping for a successful 2005 so I want Carl to be smart about free agency and sign players who will actually play well. I don't care if we spend $50 million or $5 million to get them, and if they are signed on the first day or 30th day of free agency. True he may be too dumb to do that, but since I'm not the one in a position to hire and fire him, I've gotta sit here and hope that he finally gets it right...

"Tiresome and repetitive" becomes a fad at this time of the year...

"Tiresome and repetitive"

Has become the theme of the Carl Peterson era Chiefs organization. Im sick of it. I guess the fans have been too brainwashed to care anymore??? The people of KC should start a revolt!

This same story in a different light.

I know Bellicheck doesn't want to overspend for free agents. Lowballing and cheap 2nd tier free agents have won 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls. This is no time to try something different.

I know Snyder wants to go ahead and sign the big names for the big money. Just once I'd like to see him lowball or sign a cheap 2nd tier free agents. You'd think that Snyder would try something different this season. Sigh...

As I mentined before, if the Chiefs could draft like the Pats and evaluate talent properly for their system they wouldnt have to go after these free agent mercenaries.

The Chiefs are cheap. This FA season is not going to be any different than years past. They are gonna let the good players sign with other teams because they dont wanna spend money to get a high profile player. They will wait to get a "washed up no good player" the same as we have now and have had in the past to save a buck. You get what you pay for. If the Cheaps were serious on signing any of the big time FA's that have been here the past two days, the players would not have left with out us hearing something about a player signing. I would rather suffer a few years in CAP trouble for a chance to go to the SB. Year after year they bring in these high profile players let them leave without signing a contract, then the Cheaps pick up the players that are left that no other team wants. I dont know why people think things are going to change because there not, the Cheaps dont care about going to the SB. The Cheaps only care about filling the stands and raising ticket prices.
