If the Big Dance started today would they be a no 2 seed.

Now here is the ESPN Top Ten

And the AP Top Ten

Rankings: Week 17 (Mar. 7 - 13)

2. North Carolina (22) 26-3 1,701 2

9. Kansas (0) 22-5 1,134 7
10. Oklahoma State (0) 21-6 1,067 8

Okie State is no 11 in the other poll

OKlahoma shows up at NO 17 in both polls.

From what I have been seeing KU is a no 2 seed in most brackets and the other 2 schools are no 4. I can see Okie state being a no 4 seed but OU won the Big 12 outright (even though they had the same record) IMO since they beat KU. OU has won their last 6 and KU has lost 4 of their last 6.

They both lost to Iowa State (AT IS for OU and at home for KU) and Missouri ( at Mu for both) Also they have both 3 game losing streaks but OU was earlier and peaking at the right time while KU is recent and not peaking.

So would OU be a higher seed based on this or be the same seed as KU

Also based on the rankings wouldn't KU be a no 3 seed? One of the teams ranked ahead of them would be robbed and be a no 3 if that happened.

This is not to badmouth KU just trying to get some info.

Are you saying that Jayhawks are evolving into seeds?

Where is your evidence for this?

Why? OU won the Big 12 and beat them. and they are ranked ninth in the nation that would make them a 3 seed Just curious. Why would they be a 2 seed if they are ranked 9th in the nation which would mean they would be a 3 seed.

KU also won the Big XII. KU has been a top 10 team the entire year. KU has a higher RPI. KU has a better record.

Yeah. Good point They have the same record actually. 22-5 23-6 But OU beat KU. Since that is the case in my eyes KU did not win the Big 12.

answer this so which of the teams ranked ahead of them be dropped to no 3?

Well, in the Big XII eyes KU won the Big XII. Do you think the outcome could have been different had OU played @Allen Field house? I do.

IMO, 1 seeds=
UNC
Wake Forest
Illinois
KU if they win the Big XII tourney/Kentucky if they win the SEC tourney

2 seeds=
KU if they lose in the tourney/Kentucky if they lose in the tourney
Boston College
Duke
Zona if they win the Pac10 tourney/Oklahoma State if they win the Big XII tourney/Oklahoma if they win the Big XII tourney

Of course, the ones I said "if they.." are somewhat interchangeable. If both KU and Kentucky win their respective tourneys, i'll give the nod to KU. If Zona and OSU win their respective tourneys, i'd give the nod to Oklahoma State.

Check the RPI..its what the selection commitee uses to do this.

Probably a 2 or 3 seed. They play in C-USA, which is not the Big XII or ACC.

The selection committee doesn't put much basis at all on the polls, RPI is heavily used along with SOS. Henceforth why you see KU as a 1 seed still in a few brackets. KU #1 rpi, #1 SOS

Which is good, otherwise the first half of the regular season would be meaningless.

KU lead their conference all season long and have the regular season title (Did they tie or win it outright?).

They deserve #2.

As you know, I'm a big KU fan. But that doesn't make me unrealistic. KU has played themselves into a #2 seed by losing 4 of 6 down the stretch. If they get to the Big 12 Tourney Championship game, they may deserve a #1 seed due to their tough non-conference schedule this year and the Big 12 being a top 3 conference. Whether they win in the conference championship game is irrelevant since the NCAA committee will have already made that decision prior to tipoff. But I agree, at this point KU does not deserve a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

I disagree with the notion that the decisions have been made before the tournaments. Tournaments HAVE to play out so automatic bids are given. Think about this, if KU rebounds and beats OU and OSU on their way to winning the Big XII tourney, (and convincingly), don't you think they would deserve a 1 seed over UK, if UK is a one and done?

The auto bids rarely affect the top seeds, IMO. They are pretty much already set.

Sadly, another factor is which seeds will get the most revenue, based on which regions they are placed in.

I didn't say the whole tournaments. I just said the championship game will not make a difference either way. This is due to it being played on Sunday afternoon. By that time, the committee has already made most of their selections.

I definitely think that if everything started today, then KU would be a #2 seed. Who gets bumped? I say either Louisville or Arizona. I think both are playing in what the committee probably considers a lesser conference than the Big 12. Especially Arizona in the Pac 10 this year. RPI is another consideration, as KU has stayed #1 in that poll for most of the year despite losing 4 of the last 6.

Of course, their seeding could be influenced by what happens in the Big 12 tournament, which is part of the reason that I hate post-season conference tournaments.

Well said..........

Losing 4 of 6 has KU on the short end of the stick right now. With langford possibly out for the Big 12 Conf. Tourney, If KU loses it's 1st game, we could drop to a 3 seed.

All the pundits and rivals in the world would love nothing but this to happen, I still say that this team has the talent to win it all if it puts it's heads in the right frame of mind and play good basketball.

The Big Dance , you must bring your best each game or you get an early exit. No matter who you are.

RPI is taken into effect and KU played much tougher teams than OU did and still ended up with a better overall record.

Last I checked, KU had the #1 RPI and the #1 SOS.

I gather RPI is not taken into heavy consideration and a lot of the seeding will depend on who wins the Big 12 tourney. If OU wins that, they will probably get a #2 seed but Im betting neither KU or OSU (whoever draws them) will forget their earlier loss in OU.

Whoever wins the Big 12 tourney will get the #2 seed is my bet.

Oh and saying "OU won the Big 12 and beat them" is kind of redundant since OU won the Big 12 BECAUSE they beat them.

Actually 23 (OU) wins is better then 22 (KU) but OU has 6 losses compared to 5 KU so the records are the same

and the point of being redundant I guess you did not read my earlier posts.
