I was more scared about this game then any other game in the tournament. We always seem to play down to our opponents and it seemed like Nebraska was due to beat us. But it looks like we will probably hold on this game, so we should move on and play the Sooners. I like our chances against the better teams because we usually hold our own for some reason against the top teams.

I can't say i'm surprised, Mizzou has trouble keeping their intensity high for long periods of time. I'm sure Nebraska will make a run before it's over, but hopefully we can pull it out.

Man, Justin Williams played a fantastic first half for KSU off the bench.

He leaned on Joe Jones on defense and got 6 points and 5 boards at the 5.

He's been on a nice little tear in the last 3 games. Too bad we didn't get that kind of play all season.

Cats need to control A Wright. He's going crazy out there.

Wright is an awesome player, you almost have to let him get his points and try and stop the others. This has been a very good game so far, I expect the winner to give KU a run for their money tomorrow.

I'll say it again. Justin Williams played out of his mind tonight. He's been doing it for about 5 games now. Sadly, he picks the end of his career to do it.
If he gave KSU any kind of production at the 5 like he has the last 5 games, KSU wins 20 games and is dancin' in the NCAA.

Tomorrow night is a big game for KSU.

Wooly has another chance to get the 8000# gorilla off his and KSU's back tomorrow.

With Langford likely limited at best, and KSU playing well, it's as likely tomorrow night as it's been in quite some time. KU seems to play with supreme confidence when they see the purple though, so it wouldn't surprise me if guys like Lee and Giddens found their games again. It will be important for Massey to stay out of foul trouble, and for the Cats to prove early they'll hit the three to loosen up the middle.

Considering we beat them this year and have won 3 out of 4 against them, I would say we have a decent chance of winning. Like someone else said, it depends on what Mizzou team shows up. HELL yes! Just got back from Kemper..my first and last Big XII tournament game i've attended there. Quite an atmosphere, and a hell of a good time.

As for tommorow..gah. Here is what K-State has to do to end the streak:

1. Triple team Simien everytime the all-world Foward has the ball. Keep him under 30, consider that a small victory.
2. Hope that JR Giddens doesn't get his game back like he has the past 2 games vs KSU.
3. Hope Langford doesn't suit up
4. Hope Jeff Hawkins or Mike Lee doesn't come in and shoot lights out
5. Keep the status quo with Moody. Moody will foul out. He can't guard Massey, as proven by the last couple of games.

GO STATE! :ksu:

I just looked up some Big 12 Tourney info since all 3 Texas schools lost today. Big 12 teams are now 19-34 all time in the Big 12 tourney, including 14-29 against the original Big 8 schools. 1 of those victories was later forfeited by Texas Tech(against KSU IIRC), and only 1 time in 8 previous Big 12 tourneys has a Texas team made it to the finals, which was last year when UT lost to OSU.

I have to disagree with ya. The Chiefs have won a superbowl, MU has never even made it to a final four. The Chiefs have won the AFC West but MU has never won the Big 12 (or finished better than 6th). Being a Chiefs fan means you have a resonable expectation of making the post season every year. MU fans are actually excited by an NIT bid... wtf is that? Top tier D1 BB schools should never be excited about an NIT bid. Or are MU fans finally accepting the fact that they are not a top tier team?

Hell of a good game, slow start and T's hurt Mizzou in the end.

Thinking is not your long suit, MU did more than enough to get the nod.
Your cats though may have a tough time getting to the NIT if they get punked again by the Hawks.

Personally I'd like to see your cats pull one out of their collective asses and finally get the monkey off it's back and beat KU, don't think they have a chance but you never know.

Hi, i'm Earth, have we met?

Having a winning record is pretty much a requirement to getting in the NIT. MU is 16-16. They could get in, but i'm not sure they will.

KSU is pretty much guaranteed a bid at 17-11.

The Big 12 has only been around since 97 and the Tigers won the Big 12 North in 1999 with and 11-5 record(they were a #2 seed in the Big 12 tournament). Sure the Chiefs have made it to the Super Bowl, but it is ancient history. Since the 69 Super Bowl season, the Chiefs have made the playoffs 10 times, have 4 AFC West titles and have won 3 playoff games, making it as far as the AFC Championship game only once back in the 1993 season. In that same time frame, Missouri has won the big 8 regular season championship 8 times, the big 8 conference tourney 6 times and been to the NCAA tournament 19 times, making the regional final 3 times, which is about the NCAA equivalent of making the conference championship game. As sad as it may sound, MU basketball has been far more successful in the last 36 years than the Chiefs.

And noone would have been excited about an NIT bid.

Hmm... for a Kansas fan you seem to know very little of Mizzou's basketball history. They were the regular season Big 8 Champions in 1976, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1990, and 1994. They were the post-season Big 8 Champions in 1978, 1982, 1987, 1989, 1991, and 1993. They have made 20 appearances in the NCAA tournament 13 of which came in the last 20 years. In case you're wondering The Big 8 is what the conference was called prior to adding Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Baylor in 1994.

You pointed out that being a Chiefs fan means that you have a reasonable expectation of making the playoffs each year. The Chiefs have made the playoffs 8 times in the last 20 years and usually manage an early exit (doesn't sound like Mizzou at all). As for being excited about the possibility of a NIT bid, I don't know any Mizzou fan who is. MU is definitely a top tier men's BB program but, if we are not in your eyes, that just makes it that much better that KU's loss to us cost them the regular season Conference championship.
