49ers sign K Nedney to one-year deal
SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco 49ers liked what they saw from kicker Joe Nedney.

One day after working out with the team, Nedney, who has not played in the NFL in nearly two years, signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

As a member of the Tennessee Titans, Nedney suffered a torn ACL while trying to make a tackle against the Oakland Raiders in the 2003 season opener. The nine-year veteran attempted a comeback with the Titans last year but spent the season on injured reserve.

Nedney also has played for the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers and Raiders since joining the league as an undrafted free agent in 1996. He has a career field goal percentage of 74.7, converting 127-of-170 attempts.

Nedney will compete with Kirk Yliniemi and Chace Long for the 49ers' kicking duties.
