MoveOn.Org's new television ad attacking the "nuclear option" on judges is just bizarre. It mischaracterizes history -- no judicial nominees to appellate courts have ever been filibustered -- and gives the impression that the White House (or, more specifically, Dick Cheney) is seeking to have the Senate rubber stamp nominations that have already been confirmed by the Senate (like John Roberts). The ad claims Cheney wants to turn the Senate into a rubber stamp, yet every nominee that has been filibustered thus far has had bipartisan support in the Senate.

The other funny aspect of the ad is how it labels the judges the Dems have tried to block - judges that will all receive a majority of the votes in the senate - as "CORPORATE" judges.

Oooo...the evil corporate boogey-men are out to take away our freedom...oooooo.

It's also revealing that they attack Cheney for the plan (I know, I know, he's the president of the Senate, but they go way out of their way to claim it's his plan) and then go on to ask "who made Dick Cheney king."

If I remember the results of the election correctly, it was more than 62 million Americans who re-elected him.

But, once again, this is great news for Republicans. The Dems draw the worse lines in the sand and then, even when they do challenge the GOP MAJORITY to step over those lines, they still lose (see ANWR and, soon, the judicial nominees). It's almost as if their plan is to claim that anything enacted by the Republicans is part of an unlawful coup to take over the country. I'm still laughing at Schumer's speech from yesterday.

Ted Kennedy was hilarious on this topic.

Something to the effect of "this is scary. They control the House, the Senate, and the President's office and cabinet and now they want to control the judiciary system" (not an exact quote).

Reply by reporter "But Senator, didn't your brother do the same and even take it further by using his own family in cabinet positions? Were you as scared then?"

Reply "That topic will have to wait until another day."

ROFL

Even Shrillery was out there screaming yesterday.

From Reid's promise to shut down the senate (which he backed away almost the second it left his mouth) to Pelosi's explanation yesterday that Dems don't have to come up with an alternative for social security reform because their plan is to stop anything Bush proposes, the left is really going down the toilet.

They've already been flushed. They are sinking to the bottom of the sanitation pool.
