I know, I know this getting pathetic. According to KFFL.com, the Chiefs are in the running to land free agent LB Ed Hartwell. Mind you, this is being reported by the Seattle times. posted on KFFL as of Fri, March 18th, 2005.

Why does our team seem to end up in a quandry like this EVERY OFFSEASON?

Two seasons ago it was Hugh Douglas. Last year it was sitting on our ass. This year it's Ed Hartwell.

At letting the ball carrier run 5, 6 yards past the line of scrimmage :shake:

I believe anyone who thinks Hartwell will be that much of an upgrade over Fujita will be dissapointed.

IF we sign Hartwell, I sure hope he is more DECISIVE on the field....otherwise I'm imagining this scenario next year:

"Let's see, run....or pass? Uh-oh....SHIT! It's play-action, so do I cover Tomlinson in the flats, do I deny Gates the seam, or do I 'balls-to-the-wall' and knock Brees into early friggin' retirement??? DAMN, decisions, decisions, decisions.....er, wait.....maybe it's an 'end around' coming my way.....Damn, damn, damn! WTF is Ray....oh shit, RAY isn't here. Damn!!!"

Hartwell doesn't need Ray Lewis. He proved that in 2002.

I did some research on Hartwell, and, one of, if not, the strength of his game is instincts. He rarely gets out of position, is a sure bet tackler. Sure he is not the fastest guy, I really can't see him playing WLB. He doesn't have the speed, but, what he has is a nose for the ball. He hits like a wreck train, plays with intensity and attitude. Kinda like Maz, except more talented. If the Chiefs get him, I'd be quite pleased. those qualities themselves improve our defense bigtime. I recall last season how many times I saw Fujita, Barber, and Mitchell consistently out of position over running plays, missing too tackles. too many it's real hard to count. Basically, we could use him. Remember, there is always, always options. We can switch to 3-4 and place Hartwell, Bell in the middle. there's something for a thought.

Yeah - he'll probably end up playing for a team no one's even mentioned yet. Maybe Jacksonville will throw $$$ at him like they did Douglas?

:banghead: Please someone stop the Hartwell insanity. I'm personally getting tired of hearing about one guy for a month with no results. He needs to sign with someone soon before I do something drastic. I don't know if I want someone who keeps changing his mind and yanking our collective chain. Sign the line, Hartwell and stop the insanity:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Uhm, actually, no, he isn't.

But since Fuji was brought up, has there been any news on him? Have any teams expressed interest in him?

Actually, we didn't just sit around last year, we went around with Troy Vincent last year, it had the same result as Hugh Douglass did. But last year we didn't have the $ to dive in to FA, well, except for that 6ish mil of cap space that we had throughout the regular season.:banghead:

I think New England had him in for a visit. I don't remember them making an offer.

He has to be fast or he won't many any tackles at all. As it is, he makes all of his tackles seven yards down the field.

Has Fujita ever stepped up on defense and filled a hole like a LB should? If he has, I haven't seen it.

WTF - Malik Hairston??? Isnt he the guy who chose Oregon over Kansas as last years recruiting battle? And how are they even remotely related?
