View Full Version : Irony

The last 12 years of my 23 years of working for the state of Iowa was spent keeping an agressively scheming self appointed "enemy" (my second Boss) at bay. The only coworker who consistantly matched (and possibly even outdid) my boss's personal campaign against me joined us from another division in the last 10 years of my employment. His motto, blatantly repeated many times to others, "I hate all I-RANIANS!"
Fast forward to present. Word arrived, via a former co-worker, that this fellow who's about my age has been hospitalized with a growth (possible tumor) in his brain. I actually feel very sorry for him and have discussed with my other former co-workers the appropriateness (or lack thereof) of my possible visiting him at the hospital. I do not feel as if divine vindication is at play, or anything like that. But this irony has not escaped me:
His neurologist is a friend of mine.... And an IRANIAN!

I know. I debated which forum to post it in. But given the past tendencies of some posters I predicted at one point it would have to be moved here anyway.

I hope it goes on sale soon, because I don't buy the whole story.
I know several employees of the state, and the state has a pretty hard core Affirmative action and descrimination policy. I'm positive there is another side to the first part of the story.

Honestly Frankie, if he’s got a problem with you because of the color of your skin, fugg’im. If it were me, I’d have nothing against him necessarily but I’d have nothing for him either. But that’s just me.

The 2001 report: "Addressing Discrimination at the DOT" indicates otherwise.

I do doubt.
It could be because I know some people in the DOT and possibly have heard another side of the lawsuit story.

Speaking of, my firm just won their final stand in a discrimination suit against them. The standards of appeals ran out this week and the woman didn't refile. However, I didn't feel the least bit obligated to post her current ironic situation regarding the matter.
However, even in a case we won for supposed unlawful discrimination, it ended up costing (in legal fees alone) over 78,000.00. I honestly hope the woman never works again - and yes, I am being vindictive about it.

You don't know me at all. People who do, know that I do not believe in vengeance and false victories. This man has deliberately thrown a lot of gasoline on the fire that my boss maintained. But I actually feel sorry for his current condition. Not bad for a Moslem/Non-religious (take your pick) person. Wouldn't you say? By the notion of "good will," "turning the other cheek," and "caring for the fellow man" that some Christians think is their monopoly, I guess I'm more Christian than most Christians. ;) Now that's worth "gloating" about.

Of course I don't know you. That also means I don't know if you feel sorry for him or you are just attempting to CYA your gloating post while you attack Christians as well.

Maybe when he was younger before he met you some Iranian refused to teach him what terrorists eat and he held a grudge against all Iranians for the rest of his life. :hmmm:
Maybe all of your bosses are not really out to get you and your just being paranoid. :hmmm:
Maybe they just want you to finally work for once instead of pulling the race card while your living off the public. :hmmm:
Then again maybe showing up and being the bigger man just may show him the error in his ways and make both of you better for the experience. It isn't easy to do and I can't say I would but no matter how he takes it you should feel pretty good about yourself for stepping up like that if you do.

You are dead wrong about my intentions. But the reason I'm coming back to this arguement is your phrase "attack Christians as well." You are dead wrong there too. If anyone else got that impression from my earlier post I offer my oppology. Even though my point, IMO, was clearly made. No offense was intended to anybody's religious beliefs. There are good people and bad ones among practitioners of all religions. I just submit, I have thought out enough life values to practice to consider myself a better human being than a lot of them (certainly the bad ones).... OF ANY RELIGION.

You said MOST Christians earlier, not "a lot". How can you state something negative about "most" of a group of people and not consider it an attack?
Had someone said "most Iranians are illiterate unwashed smelly terrorists" I am sure you wouldn't have been offended in the least, right?

Maybe when he was younger before he met you some Iranian refused to teach him what terrorists eat and he held a grudge against all Iranians for the rest of his life. :hmmm:.
Maybe you'd get a wit someday and learn there is an acceptable length a particular "joke" could be taken before it's downright offensive.
Maybe all of your bosses are not really out to get you and your just being paranoid. :hmmm:.
There are enough witnesses. Thank you very much. My boss, in my first 11 years was a true gentleman, who unfortunately developed lung cancer and passed away, allowing this power-mad a-hole to be hired into the position. I had an 11 year chance before this guy to show signs of paranoia.
And this is way more explanation of myself than I owed you.
Maybe they just want you to finally work for once instead of pulling the race card while your living off the public. :hmmm:.
Who in the hades do you think you are to accuse me of "living off the public." I'm not getting a dime from the public. Now who's paranoid?
Then again maybe showing up and being the bigger man just may show him the error in his ways and make both of you better for the experience. It isn't easy to do and I can't say I would but no matter how he takes it you should feel pretty good about yourself for stepping up like that if you do.
I said in the thread starter that I have thought of that. So far though my ex-coworkers think that's not a good idea and would look like grandstanding, given my lawsuit against the outfit.

I see your overly sensitive as usual. You really shouldn't take yourself so seriously, nobody else does. Since you want to go serious about things I was ribbing you about though I might as well point out that anyone who works for the government IS living off of the public. What part of that don't you understand? Lawsuit, there's a shocker. An unemployed liberal ex-government employee used to living off the fat now wants to sue the citizens of this great land because he feels violated. Good god now you want to go rub it in his face? Your ex-coworkers are right, try and show some class and stay the hell out of there. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt and was beginning to actually think you had a decent bone in your body, my mistake.
Oh yea and you should have titled this thread Irany.
