More than 3 tons of marijuana found in Phoenix home

PHOENIX (AP) -- A huge cache of marijuana was found in a west Phoenix home. Police were called early Friday by a neighbor, who reporting seeing armed men up and down the street, and men loading bags into a large moving van from a house.

The suspects had fled by the time police arrived in the area near 85th Avenue and Indian School.

But inside the home, officers found up to seven thousand pounds of marijuana.

Police Lieutenant Vince Piano says it's the largest amount of pot ever found at a home by Phoenix police.

And it wasn't the smugglers who neighbors spotted early today loading the marijuana. Piano says it appears to have been a group trying to steal the pot because the door to the home had been kicked in.

He estimated the wholesale value of the marijuana at four (m) million dollars. But he says it would sell on the streets of Phoenix for twice that much, and four times that amount if it were sold on the East Coast.

I wonder what 7 thousand pounds even looks like. You'd practically have to put it on pallets and fork it around.

They were showing video on the news. Basically, the whole house was filled with it.

I wonder how much the thieves got away with before the cops showed up.

Eh, it was probably all schwag anyway.

And the east coast potheads begin loading up their vehicles and head west...

Considering the description of the activity that lead the neighbors to call the cops, I'm guessing that's already happened.

You're probably right. But that's still a lot to have in one place.

How much you planning on taking?

Guess it depends on how tightly packed the bricks are, but what are you expecting to fit in a backpack? 3? 4 pounds? I'd have burned that in six months in college.

That's key. I'm assuming if I had 3 or 4 pounds laying around I didn't pay for, I'd probably have 3 or 4 friends laying around as well.

I'm just very economical. 4 pounds in 5 years is almost an oz per month.
