I know a lot of you are Royals fans. My buddy recently got traded from the Dodgers to the KC Royals. He's still in the minors but hopefully not far from the pro's. Jared Price is his name. Do you guys know of any web-sites where I can track his play? I talked to him two weeks ago and he really likes the Royals organization. He said the Dodgers were @ssholes, and they really jerked him around.

Why do you say that? It's not like he's been in the minors for 10 years. We just graduated High School in 2000. Obviously he dominated in High School. Broke all the school records. Once a week there was a MLB scout talking to him in between classes. Pretty cool to see something like that. Especially since we have such a small town/school.

That wont last long once he experiences a few losing seasons. You do realize the Royals havent made the playoffs since 1985! I pray for your friend and im a Royals fan!

Don't pay any attention to DeBerg. He's like the guy out in left field in major league that can only dwell on the bad. There are some diehard Royals fans here though.

Looking at baseball america, I see that Jared Price is a catcher but was not actually traded, he was drafted as a Rule 5 player from the Dodgers. This is the double-A phase of rule 5, so I would guess that he would have to be assigned to AAA Omaha for the season or returned to LA (dont know for sure how that would work though)

Looks like he hit .241 with 6 homers and 22 RBI in 53 games for the Columbus Catfish of the South Atlantic League. The Dodgers drafted him in the 7th round of the 2000 draft. His total minor league lines look like this: 5 seasons, 626 OPS, 33 2B, 21 HR, 90 BB, 259 K

Good luck to your friend, hopefully he'll turn into a player for us!

It was a put down to the Royals, not your friend. In fact if he is good I'll expect him to make the big league club and be traded for prospects by the time we can't afford him any more.

Just a jaded Royals fan.

Last playoff baseball game played in Kansas City was Game 7 of the 1985 World Series.

Good luck to your friend, but John Buck may hold down that position for quite some time.

BTW, in 1991 we finished 6th with an 80-82 record.

Wrong

I was at the last playoff game the Royals were in - Game 7 of the 1985 WS.

Funny, sitting there in RF GA that night, I never envisioned going 20 years withoutout getting back into the playoffs. Hell, I remember how pissed I was when we didn't make it for a 2 yr stretch in the early 80's.......Man, that seems like a lifetime ago. :shake:

First thing I said to him was, "hell yes, can you get me a good deal on Chiefs tickets"???

You're wrong.

Which, it should be noted, is not necessarily mutually exclusive from Deberg_1990 being an asshole.
