View Full Version : What are the chances Carl and DV will pick a player we want in the first round?

They seem like bad chances to me. They never pick players I think are worthy.

Mark M need not respond to this post because draft post have been put up in abundance as it is so no need to slam me Mark. Just leave me alone. I've got a long day tommorrow in Iraq so excuse me if I feel your post Nazi attitude is a little on the unimportant side.

Because if they end up picking a Running Back or something like that they will get crucified by the fanbase...........Not that it matters much, Carls job is secure outside of him pulling a Michael Jackson on little boys. Even then, it might not get him fired.

Even though you asked me not to, I will post and will even play nice. :D

Whom do you feel is worthy?
Why will KC not pick that player?

I'd prefer Derrick Johnson because KC needs a young stud OLB.

But I would be happy with Pacman Jones, Marlin Jackson (if they trade down) or Rolle.

There's a good chance one of those players could be picked by KC.

BTW, nice "I'm in Iraq so be nice to me" addition.

If you are, thanks for your service (I may not be a fan of the war, but totally, 100% respect those who serve).

If you are not, then you're even more of a prick.

:)

Either way, remember one thing:

If the enemy is in range, so are you.

I think there's a pretty good chance that they'll do the "right" thing this year. Do they really have any other alternative?

Great size and athletic ability, but a poor tackler who has some work to do on his technique (mainly footwork).

And as we've seen, KC does NOT have the coaches that can teach that.

We need a player more polished, IMHO, and while neither Jones nor Jackson is perfect (Rolle is probably close), they're closer IMHO.

you going by the draft sites?

cause what i saw of Rogers on the field, he doesn't have any problem with run support imo.

The chances of Carl Peterson getting our 1st round pick right are roughly similar to the chance that DaddyT will ever act normal instead of retarded...

I don't give a flying f*ck whether they draft someone we want now. I want them to draft someone that, when the season is over, we can all say "wow, he was a great f*cking pick".

this is true... whens the last time we got to say that about a day 1 pick?

I think there's a good chance they pick a player I want. It's happened before and to me the candidates are obvious this year. I'm not just tied to one player in the 1st though I see many players that may be available at the 15thy pick that I'd like to have on the Chiefs. Like Keg posted though I just want a player. I want the right pick, the one that pans out, pans out quickly. This draft seems to be full of decent prospects at the Chiefs positions of need. CB and DE specificly but I also like Thomas Davis for an OLB and if we get our CB issue resolved to a satsifactory level in free agency I think he'd be a great pick.

so i'm guessing a fith round selection that was up for defensive rookie of the year was no good...

We'll probably sign Fabian Washington at 15. Ugh.

if their is a possibility that Derrick Johnson slips to the 9 or 10 position I'll be pissed if KC doesn't pull the trigger for a trade for a player that caliber

The chances are so poor I have almost decided to do something else besides watch the draft. I am not about to sit there and watch Carl trade down so he can take this years equivalent of Larry Johnson when the player is clearly not a need for this year. Been there and done that far to often with Carl.

People I would be happy with:
Antrel Rolle
Erasmus James
Adam Jones
Carlos Rogers
Marcus Spears
David Pollack (luke warm on him)

It would be hard to dislike any of those picks IMO. Positions of need and all are held in high regard by most scouts and draft gurus. I don't think we'll trade down unless we trade for Surtain and still then with the players available I think we pick at 15. Unless part of getting Surtain is trading down to obtain a pick to obtain Surtain. IMO there will be to good of a player at 15 so pass up given the strength of the draft at the positions we need players at. I think you might have a chance for some draft gratification this year. Stay strong man! Stay Strong!

Carlos Rogers should be there where we pick. Barring that a top DE like Spears or James. The only player I would try to move up for is Derrick Johnson but we would probably have to move very quickly to get him. If he falls too far, some team is going to have their phone ringing off the hook.

i don't think that all 3 of the top cornerbacks are gone when we pick, so i don't see any real reason to trade up or down.

You're lukewarm on David Pollack, who ran a faster shuttle than some CORNERS at the combine and has a motor that never quits, but you like Erasmus James and Marcus Spears, two guys that disappeared in big games and never put out the effort to live up to their hype?

I think we need to trade down so that we can trade our #2 pick for Surtain, and still ahve the ability to draft 2 quality players, 1 at CB Marlin Jackson, and 1 at OLB Daryl Blackstock.

I'd take Jackson.

I still don't like the thought of Blackstock. He just seems to me to be a pass rush specialist and only in the 3-4. I think we'd be much better served looking at an every-down WSLB like Burnett.

If we sign Law (or trade for Surtain), I would not be surprised at all if we go offense. I imagine this place would go into full meltdown, but it still would not shock me if we selected a LT, WR, or QB if either Rodgers or Smith fall that far.

I could live with Burnett.

I just like Blackstock's combination of size and speed.
And in Gun's scheme, he'd be primarily used as a blitzer in passing downs, so his pass coverage wouldn't be an issue.

Seemed to work pretty good for DT.

But either would work, I think.
Burnett's a little faster, and only about 10 lbs lighter.

We're gonna trade down from 15, then reach for Brandon Browner.

The really sad part is that it looks exactly like something Carl and DickWad would do.

MY hopes and prayers (if we cant draft rolle and get surtain for next years #2) That is the best scenario though in my opinion

Ah-Ha! A trick question. As an astute observer of Planet analysis (granted, an oxymoron), I have come to realize that the mathmatical solution to ALL questions posing "what are the chances" scenarios is:

50/50.

Eg, What are the chances the Chiefs win their home opener? Eventual Solution: 50/50, they'll either win or lose. Despite all factors other posters will try to bring to the fore, someone always maintains this "golden mean" for Chief's Planet solutions. Thus, the answer here must be 50/50. They'll either draft someone you like, or they won't!

Right? Bueller? Anyone?

Since he got two FA's already.

If Johnson falls to 8/9 we should make a move, somehow to get this guy. The Phins have only a few picks this year. Has anyone thought of trading our 15th and second and a # of picks and maby a RB LJ for Surtain and the # 2 spot ? Chiefs need to get creative and real fast.

Thankful that I have no control over the draft, I would most surley make dumb moves.
Will sit back and wait with the rest of you and praise KC for making the right selections again this year. ;
