True. I'd rather see Beisel on the bottom of our 3 deep than either Mitchell or Scanlon, though.

And Maz? This is just sad. We really do need some help on defense.

Beisel is good on special teams and is a backup LB at best. If he goes............he goes. Big deal.

Beisel - below average NFL talent from a below average school. Buh-Bye.

If Beisel will accept his role on the Chiefs, I'm for re-signing him to a 3 year deal. He's a very good Special teamer, and capable backup. If he thinks he is a starting LB on any team in the NFL not called the 2004 KC Chiefs........He's been into Skips Stash again.

Beisel is a pretty damn good player. He plays with alot of heart. With all the money we have, we should have tried harder to retain him, especially if we don't land the CB in FA that Carl claimed we would land. He's a versatile player and was very coachable. I think he would have been fairly cheap and well worth having somebody who enjoys laying the whoppass as a profession. I hate to see him go, if it happens.

I agree. He reminds me of our starting LB's in the early 80's.

I always thought Beisel and Stills would be good OLB's in a 3-4. I could see Monty beating out Clark Haggans for a starting job, if he does, in fact, sign with the Steelers. He reminded me of Mike Vrabel when we drafted him.

Wouldn't it suck if the Steelers signed him for about 1/4 of what Bell got, and then Beisel ended up starting more games for them than Bell starts for us.

Nah, he's not as good as Gary Spani.

Or were you talking about Frank Manumaleuga?

I think the Chiefs are letting him look for a starting job........explore his options. If he finds one, they'll be happy for him, but they're thinking he'll come back to reality after some visits and re-sign.

thats what I think.

He's a high effort, low talent (relative to the NFL) player. There are definitely other players on our roster who we would miss less.

Spani was the best of them. Tom Howard and Phil Cancik and about 15 other no names paraded through here in the early 80's. We'd cut them and nobody would sign them. I started noticing other teams picking up our cuts about the time Marty showed up.

So you think the Steelers are looking at him as a starter?

Not necessarily. I think they'd sign him for special teams and tell him he could compete with Haggans for the starting job, since Alonzo Jackson has not developed as they'd hoped. Or, they could leave him inside and let him compete with Larry Foote. Not like those guys are all-pros.
