Sorry for the long delay on this guys. Believe me I've been going through hell trying to get all my stuff back up and running. eBay sellers and manufacturer's of hardware decided to team up and give me a really hard time trying to buy new hardware.

Anyway, I believe I've gotten this setup and working again...at least I hope so. Let me know if you have problems.

Also, out of the 4 people that were just connected, 2 of you have BAD NAT problems. You gotta get that fixed or you're gonna hate Bit Torrent.

Are you behind a router/firewall of any sort? What are you using as your BitTorrent client? Somewhere in your client it should have an option for what port you'd like to use for your torrents. That's the same port you'll need to open up on your firewalls and routers and you'll need to point it to your machine. If you just have the software firewall you dont really need to worry about that...if you're using a linksys router or something similar you'll have to give your machine a static ip address (192.168.1.5) and then use that address for the port forwarding.

http://dessent.net/btfaq/ <----- read it!!!!!

http://dessent.net/btfaq/#ports <----especially this

I see, I see. I'm using BitComet, naturally. And no, I don't have a router/firewall (well I have ZoneAlarm, but that shit don't matter). Thanks for the help, though.

ZoneAlarm is a software firewall. That's exactly what I'm talking about. When you're downloading does Bitcomet have a colored icon? If so, is it yellow while you're downloading?

How long are you going to keep this up?

I've got about 60 hours to go!

you want greent. that means that hardly anybody can connect to you. which means your download speeds are gonna be crappy. people connecting to you is how bittorrent works. you gotta open up those ports in zonealarm.

I read the faq, but I don't know how to add ports to ZoneAlarm, I mean BitComet is allowed full access and shit, so I don't know.
