R's vs. M's

Good luck to the good guys.

FYI : if the Royals win, the thread starter gets massive amounts of rep. If they lose, you are supposed to neg rep CoChise. I dont make the rules, people.

Did the traditional home-opener breakfast at George Brett's this morning. Saw the man himself and Dick Vermeil on 810's Border Patrol.

Leaving for the stadium in just a bit. I'm hoping we'll see magic similar to last season's opener.

I rather 'elvis shut them down for 8 innings and we win 5-2 or something. I don't need to see Terrance Long at the plate with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth with us down 4.

Well, usually a pitcher who is getting hit hard early doesn't start mowing down the lineup in the middle innings... maybe this is a good sign

Raul was my favorite player since Frank White...my all time favorite player. I think his leaving played a major part in my jaded angst-ridden attitude about the team.

I got on the field at Fuji Film Say Cheese day two years ago and got to talk to Raul. I told him I really liked the way he played and hoped he would stay around a long time. He said thanks and he planned to. Then he left that off-season. I was crushed like a 7 year old boy.

You can buy the MLB web audio thing, it's $15 for every game the whole season

I'd give you my password, but it won't let any more people connect with my password, someone else just tried it.

Well, this inning you've gotta give the pitcher credit, DeJesus and Gotay sat there and took pitches and got in 2 strike holes real quick... Franklin is throwing strikes, you've just gotta knock them around into base hits, otherwise he's just gonna lay three strikes in there and that'll be that...

Well, to the pitcher's credit, it seemed like everytime a batter took a couple pitches, he was down 0-2.... if you can't turn those balls over the plate into hits, the pitcher isn't going to stop throwing strikes...

tk13
04-11-2005, 06:19 PM
Looking it over, against Ryan Franklin today, the Royals had 22 different batters take the first pitch, and 17 of those first pitches taken were strikes... and two that were first-pitch balls were in the 9th inning when he ran out of gas. Going into the 9th inning 15 of the 18 first pitches the Royals took were strikes. Franklin threw 19 balls and 6 of those were in the 9th inning. Pretty impressive.
