anyone who knows anything about the military, knows it is filled with alot of lifers, that are lifers, because in real life, they're pathetic twits who were picked on in school.

I've heard stories of such nco's who ADMIT as much.....In the military because they can boss people around, and pick on guys who remind them of guys that picked on them and Effed the girls they stalked in HS...

That's a bit harsh, Iowanian...there are some, yes; "filled with...." is quite a leap... :shake:

Hell, think of all the stereotypes about internet/computer geeks....heh. :p

There's a lot of them. Clearly, Tom here is one. Proctor was another. I don't think "filled with" means a "vast majority" - it means there's a lot of people who can't hack it outside of their box. This is true in or out of the military. I know people who are miserable in their jobs, but can't/won't take a chance on something else because they're afraid they won't be able to hack it.

I was an Army officer active for four years, reserve for six....I understand and agree there are some--but, hell, as a teacher there are plenty in THIS profession. I was in sales for 15 months, and....sheeesh, talk about WIERDOs. Med Techs? Insurance folks? Every profession has a per centage of strange cats.

I do think Phob is right; it's not an overwhelming number is my point--I thought you were intimating a "majority" or something.

Would you like to hear about the Sgt who told me for 5 years about how he personally cut off Saddom's moustache in 1990, and had Arab Shieks offering him herds of camels to breed thier daughters, even though he's in a reserve Medic unit?
Maybe you'd like the Sgt I know, who has a vanity plate, allowing everyone to know that he is indeed a combat vet, when what he really did, was spend 2 weeks in the region taking pictures with a general?
Maybe You'd recall a guy like my brother's first NCO who TOLD them he was being a prick because this was "his chance to get even"........the guy, that during the first tour in iraq, was smoking guys after they came in from combat patrols.

Everyone here knows i have the greatest respect for military persons..............But there are some, that go out of their way, to test that. Just wait until you end up working with "the guy" I'm talking about, when he finally finishes those night classes and becomes your next principal.

Cops and teachers are BOTH professions I'd say have more than their share of the same personalities. Its about Dooshbags with a power trip.

Based on my experience, they're top heavy in the military and at the cop shop. I'm not saying a majority of the people in those professions are "that way", but there's a larger percentage in those fields. IMO.

Give me some specifics of what I've done in the Navy. Any one that you might be able to find would be good. Use your sources and check it out.
Let's see here ...

You're a liar.
You have no integrity.
You don't follow through with what you say you're going to do.
You whine like a 3 year old who didn't get her lollipop.
You're a hypocrite.
You've obviously got some mental health issues.
You won't look anyone in the eye when you meet them.
You forget meeting people.
You take credit for stuff you really didn't do.

Most people like that don't last long in the military. The few that do are transparent to all those with whom they serve, and are looked upon as total jokes.

Give me a break!!! you don't know squat!

OK, Phil. What did I do in the Navy? How long was I in the Navy? What is my current profession? What charitible organizations have I worked with? How much effort have I put into helping those that cannot help themselves? What do you know about me other than associated with this board and the foundation? Not a fkng thing.

I stayed in the Navy in a reserve capacity due to a desire to continue to serve my country. You claim that I had to stay as I couldn't get out of the box? What college did I attend? What was my gradepoint average? What is my degree in? Come on, you know about me. Spill!!!

I would like nothing more than to have each and every one of you working for me in any capacity. That might tell me alot about your character and abilities. I'd bet that over half of the naysayers here would be sent packing because they couldn't hack it. I'd bet there are many that couldn't handle bootcamp.

I would put my years of experience in the Navy up against anyone here. Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, or the Coast Guard.

You can talk all you want, and try to insult my service. What matters in overall is what I actually accomplished. Not a one of you have a clue in that department and probably never will.

How many Sailors do you know of that have received a medal from the CNO? From the SECNAV? You don't get those by working for a general in Kuwait.

How much do you know about Bundy? Just enough to know you didn't want to know him any better, right? That's kinda the way I view you, Tom. I know enough about you to know I really don't want to be friends with you nor any of your ilk.

Your medals don't really impress me, Tom. I spent 5 years in the USMC and when we compared fruit baskets offline, you called me a liar. Which, translated means I have comparable or more ribbons and medals than you - somebody who spent half their life in the military. But the difference between me and you is that I'm not shoving my military accomplishments down your throat. That was a decade ago in my life, I've accomplished much since and there's a whole lot left to which I look forward in the future.

Since you felt it necessary to PM me to garner an answer to your post (I was ignoring your dumbass on purpose), how about you answer a question of mine that you've glossed over several times?

Funny you should ask about Slim. He knows me and he knows you. He doesn't respond because he sees what you do to people that disagree with your point of view.

I'm not speaking of medals. But if you want to, it a given that 90% of your medals and mine are for being in a place that awards the medals for just being there. Some of the others you claim seem to be tainted by who you worked for and in what capacity.

I'm not shoving accomplishments down your throat. You claim that I've done nothing for the years of service that I've had. I'm not sure about the marines you served in, but the Navy side of the house has a perform to serve clause. If your fitreps are not above a standard you do not have the opportunity to stay. My fitreps apparently were high enough to allow me to re-up every time I wanted to.

Suffice to say, due to our dislike for each other we can continue this for ever. I decline to play your game. It doesn't matter what is said, you have the ability to edit any post (and have) to say what you want them to say. Unethical comes to mind, but that's not a word that you understand. You claim freedom of speech on this board and only hammer select few people. It may be deserved, as in my case, but you let others get away with miles more than I ever thought of.
