In descending order, who are the top ten guys you would like to see the Chiefs take with their #1 pick?

As a rule, you can include no more than four of the following players on your list: Rogers (QB), Smith (QB), Brown (RB), Edwards (WR), Williams (RB), Johnson (LB), Rolle (CB), Merriman (DE), Jones (CB), Williams (WR), Barron (OT), since many of those will go high.

My top picks would be as follows. Keep in mind, of course, that I am seriously uninformed.

1. Rolle, CB
2. Johnson, LB
3. Davis, S/LB
4. Pollack, DE
5. Jones, CB
6. Merriman, DE
7. James, DE
8. Clayton, WR
9. Rogers, CB
10. Crowder, LB (too high, I know, but...)

Roth gets an honorable mention.

Cornerback Carlos Rogers is my #1

biggest position of need ... best player at that position

Antrel rolle = safety/corner tweener (see Ed Reed)
pacman jones = struggles because of size imo
carlos rogers = Chris McCalister

Rogers is the best cover corner in the draft IMO and would be ideal for us at the 15th pick.

1. Rogers, CB
2. Johnson, LB
2. Rolle, CB
3. Pollack, DE
5. Jones, CB
6. Davis, S/LB
7. Edwards WR
8. Jackson CB
9. Clayton, WR
10. James, DE

I would say we have to go with the biggest needs for our team that would be CB, LB, S, DE...Assuming the Surtain trade doesn't go through, CB is my #1 choice:

1. Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami
2. Carlos Rodgers, CB, Auburn
3. Adam Jones, CB, West Virginia
4. Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas
5. Thomas Davis, S/LB, Georgia
6. David Pollack, DE, Georgia
7. Marlin Jackson, CB, Michigan
8. Shawne Merriman, DE, Maryland
9. Erasumus James, DE, Wisconsin
10. Demarcus Ware, DE, Troy State

I wouldn't compare Carlos Rodgers to Chris McAllister, simply because he doesn't have the size like McAllister...nor do I think he's physical as a McAllister. On other hand, I do agree with you, good overall CB, very solid.

1. Antrel Rolle - CB - Miami (What's not to like? Can play bump and run, is comfortable keeping the play in front of him in a zone, and just might be the surest tackler on the board).

2. Thomas Davis - S/OLB - Georgia (Is a missile to the ball carrier, big, strong, and fast.)

3. Eramus James - DE - Wisconsin (Big 10 player of the year with 8 sacks).

4. Carlos Rogers - CB - Auburn (Thorpe award winner in 04, good in the jam and gets out of his backpedal easily)

5. David Pollack - DE - Georgia (3-Time All-American)

6. Shawne Merriman - DE - Maryland (Explosive and relentless player- never quits on a play)

7. Demarcus Ware - DE/OLB - Troy State (Powerful and quick, outstanding performance in the combines)

8. Matt Roth - DE - Iowa (32 sacks the past three seasons)

9. Fabian Washington - DB - Nebraska (One of the fastest times in the combines. Outstanding athelete)

10. Marlin Jackson - DB - Michigan (Opponents QB's avoided him 88 percent of the time during 04 season)

1- Carlos Rogers
2- DeMarcus Ware (I admit all the talk is catching my attention)
3- Erasmus James
4- Thomas Davis
5- Marlin Jackson (In a trade down)
6- Merriman
7- Channing Crowder (in a trade down)
8- Pacman Jones
9- (To be filled Later)
10- Alex Barron, OLT

Didn't include D Johnson and A Rolle, because they won't be there at 15 and I don't like a trade up this year.

Chris McCalister Height:6-1, Weight: 206
Carlos Rogers _ Height:6-1, Weight: 195

i would think Rogers would add 10lbs pretty easily once his body matures some.

might be right about the physical part... but i think Rogers is more physical then people give him credit for.

ok here goes most realistic picks:

1. CB Pacman Jones (falling on most draft boards)
2. LB Derrick Johnson ( won't be there but maybe)
3. DE-LB Demarcus Ware
4. DE David Pollack (the guy doesn't have the hiegt weight etc. but he simply makes plays)
5. WR Williamson (a game breaker with speed)
6. FS- LB Thomas Davis (if can switch to LB)
7. DE Matt Roth
8. WR Mark Clayton (might be too good for Vermiel to pass up)
9. DE Shawn Merriman
10. WR Matt Jones (in a trade down with philadelphia for 1st and second.

all dependent on Surtain trade or signing of Ty Law

I should add that I am wouldn't mind at all trading down in the first if all the guys from Rogers and up are gone. We could then draft Jackson/Miller/Roth and Kevin Burnett in the late 1st and 2nd. I don't like Ware, because I don't really think he proved himself good enough to be a 1st round pick in college. I think he is a workout warrior.

Not going to post my list yet, but Davis is my #1 choice.

Just a little info I picked up watching the ESPN draft special yesterday (they are on every weekday next week for 2 hours btw). The whole gang predicted Ware, Pollack, and Merriman will be moved to OLB spots in the 3-4 defensive sets.

They were also pretty much in agreement that Pacman is the best CB with Rolle being 2nd.

This list is based on what I would prefer if we stay put at #15. Personally I think we have too many needs to trade up, but I wouldn't be opposed to trading down. Anyways, on with the list:

1. Derrick Johnson
2. Antrel Rolle
3. Carlos Rogers
4. Shawn Merriman
5. Thomas Davis
6. PacMan Jones

If CP stays put at #15 and drafts anyone not on this list, I will be extremely disappointed. Anyone not on this list would be an unnecessary pick or a reach at this point.

WE DO NOT NEED A DEFENSIVE END

One more note off of the draft special yesterday. And I am not trying to hijack this thread, but this was a pretty interesting point concerning the Chiefs.

The crew thought the Chiefs should pick up Ty Law. They all said he is no way on the down sid of his career yet, and is just what the Chiefs need.

So if the Chiefs don't get Surtain, and do get Law, that might effect some top selections for the Chiefs.

Too bad Carl Petersons List looks more like this:

1st. some backup fullback from Cal Tech
2nd a Safety that has all the "Physical Tools" to be converted to a CB
3rd Some QB that played the option in College they think can be converted to WR

and so on and so and so on.........

1. CB Antrel Rolle

4. CB Carlos Rogers
5. CB Justin Miller
6. DE David Pollack
7. WR Troy Williamson
8. DE Justin Tuck
9. WR Mark Clayton
10. CB Packman Jones

If all of those guys are gone then look to trade down. Then draft all of the tight ends on the board as symbol of protest until the commisioner forces another team to share one of their defensive players with us. He could explain that it is not fair that one team gets stuck with a crummy defense every year.

edit: I almost forgot that DT from Oklahoma who has the depression problem. He would fit into this defense perfectly. Not because he can play but he would have a head start on what it feels like to watch this defense. After every 3rd and long conversion the camera could spot him. Then pan to Vermiel while he is doing his "looking into the sun" face.

If we end up with Rogers I will be satisfied. Just in case, I saved some very powerful pain killers from when I herniated my disc a couple months ago. I am going to use them on draft day even though I have no physical pain, so I can laugh at us with the rest of the NFL when commish anounces the goofy reaches we have decided on.

All of this assumes we do NOT get Surtain

1. Trade up and get Johnson
2. Rolle
3. Jones
4. Rogers (the CB)
5. Trade down to late 1st and get Marlin Jackson + a 2nd
6. Pollack
7. Trade down and get Miller
8. Trade down and get Davis
9. Trade down a few and get Clayton
10. Trade up and get Edwards

If KC gets Surtain, then

4. Trade down a few and get Clayton
5. Spears
6. Merriman

Derrick Johnson, OLB, Texas

Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn

Pac-Man Jones, CB, West Virginia

David Pollack, DE, Georgia

Demarcus Ware, DE-OLB, Troy

IF we stay at 15, in descending order of preference:

Won't be there, but if they are:
1. Derrick Johnson, OLB
2. Antrel Rolle, CB

If they are there, TAKE them:
3. Carlos Rogers, CB (gonna be him, or Jones--unless Surtain is a Chief)
4. Pacman Jones, CB
5. Thomas Davis, OLB-S (If Surtain is on board, it's Davis or Pollack)
6. David Pollack, DE
7. Mike Williams, WR (not likely)

Otherwise, Highest Rated Player left on the board:
8. Shawne Merriam, DE-LB
9. Marcus Spears, DE
10. Mark Clayton, WR

At this point, I'm just messing with you...

Seriously, though, the reason I want Davis is because I truly believe there's no way we can get Johnson. I think he'll go to either Tampa or Tennessee.

That being said, if he does fall, I would be all over that. I'd take Johnson before Davis, if all things were equal.
