Heading down to Busch this Thursday for the afternoon Cubs-Cards game and was curious if anyone knew what the Cards fans were like.

The reason I ask is a couple of us are wanting to wear some Cubs gear but seeing that the trip is for a friends bachelor party we don't want to end up having his day ruined or the night cut short due to obnoxious redbird fans.

And before anyone says just mind your own business I agree with that but having been to some away Chiefs game that doesn't always work.

Anyhow having never been to the Cubs-Cards rivalry we were hoping someone here may have an idea on what we could expect.

Pft... people from St. Louis are pussies. I say you skip right past the Cubs gear and wear t-shirts that say things like, "F*ck St. Louis!" or "The Arch Sucks!"

Been to Busch 5 or 6 times, though not lately....my recollection is you'll get a good natured ribbing. St. Louis fans, generally, are pretty classy. As long as you aren't obnoxious, I think it's a lot like Arrowhead fans generally...

Wear some Chiefs gear. The few surviving baseball fans will cower in fear at a football fan.

Seriously, do baseball fans really get that intense? Every baseball game I've ever been to has been akin to having a picnic. Lots of sitting around and chatting, with an occasional 'ooh' on a home run.

Go to a game with Boozer. If he's having an "on" day, there will probably be a couple times when you're concerned about your physical safety.

Depends where you sit. If you are in GA, it can get ugly.

He was asking about Cardinal fans not about the citizens of St. Louis. Probably 25-40% of the fans at a Cardinal game are from out of town.

You will be fine. Expect some ribbing but on the whole Cardinal fans are a classy lot irregardless of ENDelt260's opinion.

Cardinal fans = KU fans = Denver fans

They are all cut from the same cloth.

(That ought to tick off more than half the board.)

ROFL

Or where a Coors Light T-shirt and walk around Busch stadium saying Budweiser sucks and you want a Coors or you want to speak to the manager.
Everyone will look upon you favorably there...

This is a good idea until we have start hearing about who last won a Superbowl.

WEST: I think you better take off that Orioles cap.

ELAINE: (thinking he's joking) Yeah. I better!

WEST: No, no, no. Seriously. You're in the owner's box, and I don't
think it's a good idea.

ELAINE: You're not serious.

WEST: Yes, yes, yes, I am!

ELAINE: Well, did he say that?

WEST: No, no, but he gave me the seats. I don't think he'd like it if
you wore an Orioles cap.

ELAINE: Well maybe you should ask him!

WEST: I don't have to ask him! Now are you gonna take the hat off or
not?

ELAINE: No! I don't have to take it off, why should I take it off? This
is ridiculous!!

GEORGE: Just take the cap off.

ELAINE: George, we are at a baseball game! This is America!

WEST: Look. Either you take the cap off, or you'll have to leave.

ELAINE: Well, I don't care, I'm not taking it off.

GEORGE: Just take the cap off!

ELAINE: No!

(a fight starts between Elaine and George; Elaine ends up taking off
GEORGE'S hat, and throwing it onto the field... West calls security
over, they proceed to remove Elaine)

KRAMER: Hey! Just wait a minute. We just got here!

GEORGE: (to Elaine) Do you want us to go with you?

KRAMER: (getting up) I'll go get your hat, George.

ELAINE: (sarcastically, to George) Stay!

GEORGE: Okay, we'll go!

(meanwhile Kramer is climbing over the dugout retrieve George's cap... the camera cuts to the field where the batter hits a pop fly to where Kramer is: the ball knocks him squarely in the head, he falls off the dugout onto the crowd)

That reminded me I used to have a shirt that said The Show-Me-State Shutout 11-0 and had a pic of a Missouri Mule kickin' the shit out of a Cardinal with feathers flying everywhere.

Sums it up about right, stay out of the bleachers and don't get stuck with the shitty nosebleeds in left or right center.

Thank god this is the last year for that pathetic stadium, the new one is going to be a very nice facility built for baseball, that is if you actually give a rip about baseball, which I don't.

Depends on where you sit, and who you're lucky enough to sit next to. I've been to a few Cubs-Cards games.... one game I sat in a section where there was a Cubs fan right in front and he kept turning around the whole game and taunting everybody, and everybody would yell back "Shut up fag!" etc etc.... which I have to admit was funny watching him about die as the Cubs blew leads in the 11th and 12th innings then lost in the 13th. Last year when I went to one I didn't see much but good natured ribbing until the end of the game, when after the Cards won there were these fans down near our exit watching as all the Cubs fans went by and taunting them. You should be okay, just don't do anything too stupid. I've never seen any violence or anything, but I went to the Chiefs/Bengals game a couple years ago, maybe I'm desensitized to soccer riots in the concourses... :)

Thats okay. You gots to be home town pride first. Growing up in Springfield, mo. I became a Cardinal fan just like most Springfield Planeteers on this site. I'm the same age as Dan Glass and we went to school together down there in Springfield. Listened to Jack Buck and Harry Carey (before he porked Auggie Bush's wife) on the Cardinal radio as a young whipper snapper. You Royal fans are a hearty bunch.:thumb:
