View Full Version : My Yearly "i have a dream draft"

Mr. Laz

step 1:

Chiefs trade with Miami before the draft because of the need for sign and trade on Surtain.

Miami gets:

two 1st (this year 1050pts, next - 1050?? pts)
2nd (430 pts)
3rd (next year's - 195?? pts)
4th (72 pts)
6th (22 pts)

Total points = 2819

Kansas city gets

1st (2600 pts)
CB Patrick surtain (3rd round value 200pts)

part of fantasy is the we can get miami to settle for a 3rd, when they asked for a 2nd. Value for 3rd is 200pts)

Total points = 2800

step 2:

on the clock - the 49ers take a QB leaving Braylon Edwards there at #2

the chiefs trade down with the Vikings so they can get Edwards to replace Moss.

chiefs get

1st - 7th pick (1500 pts)
1st - 18th pick (900 pts)
3rd - (180 pts)

total - 2580 pts

Vikings get

1st round pick (2600 pts)

Step 3: The Picks

Round 1
7th - OLB Derrick Johnson
18th - CB Carlos Rogers

Round 2
none

Round 3
WR- Mark Bradley (who the chiefs seem to want)

4th round
none

5th - 7th round
6 picks - BAA

You're being a creative thinker, Laz. Get in the mind of Carl. You trade down in the first and pick up a projected 5th rounder in the late first.

Laz,

This is the exact same thing I stated in the other thread:

To trade w/ TB or Minny, both are looking for WR and they want to pick before Cleveland... because they will take Edwards.... Minny has 2 #1 picks (#7 & #18) and probably a #3 rounder, TB has (#5) and they would give us an additional #2 and #3 for this trade.

If we trade w/ Minny we would have DJ @ #7 and then take the best player @ (Corner, LB, WR) #18, we get a defensive player that can get on the field this year (DJ) + Surtain + another starter either on D or O.

How would this not benefit the team?

I got killed for posting this.... People were calling this Highway Robbery and stupid and Unthinkable...

I like it alot...

I like your post LAZ... I'm on your sig so I do hope we get surtain, but if this scenario pans out I will cream myself on Draft Day... Carl would be King (for at least a few hours)

Sweet dream, Laz.

You MUST email this to Carl, Dick, and Lynn. Today!

It's a great dream, but can it come true would only depend upon Miami and Minny's williness do so.

OK, who's posting under Laz's name.
I didn't think he could dream this kind of dream, even if he was smoking some really great weed, or on an LSD trip, or taking any drug at all!

It's a great dream.
Don't wake him!

Please explain why Miami would make this trade with us to move down to 15, rather than move down 3 or 5 spots and deal with Tampa or Minnesota directly, and still hold us ransom with Surtain for a 2nd?

Although, this is a beautiful dream!!

Because they would get next years first and third too... + 3 additional picks this year in th 2nd, 4th and 6th.

If they do it straight up with Minny or TB they would not get next years #1 in a better draft pool + they would get less picks overall because moving down 2-5 spots is less in the trade value of picks if they move down 13... Its a huge difference....

What would you rather have if you were Miami:

This year...
1 7(7)
1 18(18)
2 14(46)
3 6(70)
3 16(80)
4 3(104)
5 2(138)
7 2(216)

and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 next year

or
1 15 (15)
2 14 (46)
3 6(70)
4 3(104)
4 15 (116)
5 2(138)
6 13 (187)
7 2(216)

and 1,1,2,3,3,4,5,6,7 next year in a better draft

If you look closely, they make up the 1st rounder and 3rd rounder next year in a better draft + Miami will have an additional 4th and 6th this year where Saban (supposedly) knows how to pick em...

In terms of draft picks even though its looks better this year if they do it with Minny themselves, it looks a lot better for next year if this gets done w/ KC

Also, you have to remember that KC would want the 5 1st day picks not the second because they have a window that is almost closed, but if you are in a rebuilding mode like Miami, I think that Saban would get a lot of praise for having 5 1st day picks in 2006 where he will build for the future.

We would end up with this this year:

1 7(7)
1 18(18)
3 16(80)
3 35(99)
5 11(147)
5 26(162)
6 25(199)
7 15(229)
7 24(238)

And with this in 2006:

2,4,5,6,7
