View Full Version : I'm Going On Record And Saying We Pick Thomas Davis

FS/OLB with our 15th pick in the draft. It won't matter if we have acquired a CB either he'll be the pick. I really like him and it would be a great pick if we were to have Surtain on board but that looks like a long shot so hopefully a good CB will fall to us in the 2nd as well as the later rounds. It's a deep draft for CBs all the way through.

That's what my gut is telling me and I just wanted to put it out there. Everybody posts their druthers I figured I post my gut feeling of what will happen. Without a CB on board this board will go Ka-BOOM! My druthers are Rogers or one of the other three CBs or Davis providing Johnson doesn't fall. He won't.

My gut says that there's a better chance of Johnson falling than there is of one of the top 3 corners. Virtually no chance, in any case. I think they'll all be gone, but if one of the four players makes it, I'd guess it'll be either Jones or Johnson.

Kiper was talking about that with Derrick Johnson. He said he was probably one of the most disagreed upon players... some teams practically had him at the top of their board, others had him practically at 2nd round value. I can't imagine he falls all the way to us though. I would be giddy if he did, that's great value at 15, if either him or Davis are there.

Can you imagine the reaction if he did fall to 15, and it turned out we were one of the teams that view him as 2nd round value. Say, for instance, he was there, and we traded down...

I don't want Johnson. I'm in the camp of people that think he's too soft and takes bad angles. I just don't see in him what you see in the real superstar LBs in the NFL. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying it, but I expect DJ to be a very average NFL LB.

If by some unforseen reason that DJ is still on the Board when we pick, this is EXACTLY what I see us doing - and it will probably be a trade down to the lower part of the 1st round and we'll pick up a 4th and 5th rounder from the trade.

That's my call as well.

I'm hopin' Rolle or Rogers are still on the board, and CP surprises me....but Davis would be my third choice. The only other possibility is if Merriman is still available....if it's not one of those four, then someone had better have slipped to us (DJ) or Peterson should be shot.

I'm on board with the Thomas Davis pick. I think it is a good sign that Chiefs f.o. hasn't talked about him much, besides saying he is a great football player. I will be thrilled if we go with Davis or one of the 3 CBs at 15.

I think they really like Blackstock and it's not illogical to think he's gonna be there. I like Davis and all three of the top CB's but I think Karl may have something up his sleeve. This whole offseason has seemed very strange. It'd be a good year to pull off a draft coup.

If Carl even thinks about taking Blaystock I'll I find his house and put several african bred black mambas in his dwelling . So when gets home scratches his nuts he sits on his leather coach he'll find a poisonous snake up his ass! DJ, Merriman, Davis that's my order of preference

Looks like to me the top three CBs are all going to be gone when we pick and the 4th CB ins't worth the #15 pick. Man we need to get Surtain so when we draft Davis we'll have a decent CB to go with Warfield. That would be instant impact out of our 1st two draft picks.

Blackstock and Merriman have the same problem -- 3-4 rushbackers.

If we pick Blackstock at #15, that's the dumbest move EVAR.

Trade down, get more 1st-day picks. The guy will be there late 1st, hell he might be there early 2nd.

As much as I like Davis It makes sense. The Saints pick 16th and they want Davis from what I've gathered and the Rams want Davis too so being in the same division I can see the Rams over paying in a trade to beat out the Saints. That trade would normally garner a 3rd rounder but I think we can get a 2nd rounder out of the Rams. The Rams do have two 3rd rounders but we need a 2nd. Sound famliar? Or we could just take Davis and go on......

yup

Now that Surtain is on board, two things are true:

CP wants to get his 2nd back
DV wants a WR

so....if Davis is there at 15, we can simply take him (and I think we should)....or, we can bid New Orleans and St. Louis against each other and see who will pay the most (a 3rd, but maybe someone's crazy enough to give a 2nd)....then we drop a couple of spots and draft Clayton (or Pollack which I'd much prefer)

you know DV is politic-ing hard for the WR he's desired since arriving at KC....I think Davis is a no-brainer superior player to Clayton, but since CP has bought us so many FA toys lately I won't complain (even though it leaves with a hole at OLB)...

Davis

I'm pretty sure the Rams would like to draft Davis and although he didn't it would be to get Davis I heard the Rams Director Of Player Personel say that if a player they wanted wouldn't last to 19th they'd start making calls around 15th or 16th. Well we know thay ain't gonna call the Saints at 16th to make a deal so it would be us or the Texans. The Texans are 14th I think with out checking. If the Saints want Davis and the Rams want Davis we may be in business with a 2nd. If we can't get a 2nd then we take Davis.
