Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Thursday that the club has agreed to terms of a one-year contract with RB Dee Brown. As per club policy, no further terms of the agreements were announced.

RB Dee Brown (5-10, 210) has played in 21 career games (three starts), rushing 102 times for 360 yards (3.5 avg.) with four touchdowns and catching 17 passes for 86 yards (5.1 avg.) with one score. He has also returned 26 kickoffs for 496 yards (19.1 avg.). He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (175th overall) with Carolina in 2001. Brown has also seen game action with Pittsburgh (2003) and Cleveland (2004).

The Clearwater, Florida native ranked second all-time in Syracuse history with 28 rushing touchdowns and fifth with 2,626 rushing yards. Brown was voted the Central Florida Player of the Year as a junior and senior at Lake Brantley High School in Lake Brantley, Florida where he played quarterback.

When did he give up playing for the Royals?

Not a bad pickup for the 3rd rb on the depth chart or camp fodder.

Great, we signed the Illini's point guard to play running back. Now I KNOW CP has gone crazy. ROFL

After he joined the Fightin' Illini basketball team.

Good. Now we won't have to use a draft pick to get a 3rd string RB.

Seriously, I guess this is a decent signing. Hopefully this assures that we will not draft a RB this year.

Good. Now we have a Green, a Brown and a Black. Now we need a White and a Gray.

Maybe we can bring Carlton back for another go around. That'll take care of the Gray. Now to find a white.

Why is it that any time I hear of someone named "Dee," their last name is usually Brown?

The young man gets a paycheck and the D gets someone to hit in camp.

Win/win.

Would have to get paid quite a bit of money to take those hits.
Insert "Chiefs D don't hit nobody" joke here.

Oh, I don't know. Some of 'em are pretty good at hitting lead blockers... :banghead:

The D, as a whole, can be Mr. Pink.

I think the reasoning behind this is obvious. CP knew we needed help on our 3 on 3 team.

I find the timing of this a little odd. Why sign a #3 right before the draft? We have 2 picks in the 5,6 and 7th rounds. Why not draft "camp fodder/#3 late? It is supposed to be relitively deep with rbs. Cap wise I would think a late round rookie pick would cost less than Brown and performance wise maybe not much difference. Why not wait till after the draft and June cuts to see whose out there? I'm guessing there will be better available by then. Holcomb can also play rb in addition to fullback.
Would King Carl dare entertain the thought of a LJ/Surtain deal somehow?
It makes some sense in several ways. RB is a need for Miami and LJ is under contract and is "affordable" and young and "somewhat" proven.
Would it open up some cap room for us? Don't know what the cap hit would be. We would get to keep our 2nd pick (or whatever) and probably get something back from Miami in addition.
Probably just a false hope but it just seems like odd timing.

He better not. We got too much invested in LJ, and I think he will be a good RBOTF for us.
